Description: This position reports directly to the Maintenance Control Supervisor in performance of corrosion control on Customs and Border Protection P-3 aircraft. The Painter shall be able to Identify type of corrosion, severity of any corrosion damage and removal process or if corrosion damage could be a required repair. This Aircraft Painter shall coat surfaces and/or repair of customer-owned aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft using liquid paint remover, scraper, or removal systems. Smoothens surface with sandpaper and steel wool, properly prepares aluminum surfaces for adequate paint adhesion, masks and covers portions of aircraft surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or
numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils. Additional job duties may be required, but not limited to: performing phased maintenance, preflight and post-flight maintenance inspections, miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, tow and jack aircraft, and enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, Must meet all physical requirements i.e. pass respirator use physical and fit check.
Desired Skills: P-3 fixed wing aircraft desired.
Experience and ability to color match paint.
Basic Qualifications: The qualified applicant must have a minimum of 5 years of recent (within 5 years) aircraft corrosion control and paint application experience. Completed the Aircraft Paint Touch Up and Markings course (Course C-600-3182 / N-701-0014) or equivalent civilian course prior to painting aircraft/SE and Aircraft Corrosion course (Course C-600-3183 / N-701-0013) or equivalent civilian course. Must be thoroughly familiar with the NA 01-1A-509 or equivalent Must be able to read and interpret blueprints for paint schemes. Position requires employee to obtain DoD Secret Clearance and a DHS Background Investigation.
