The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.

WLED seeks a Logistics Management Information Engineer position requiring the individual to perform Logistics Management Information (LMI) IAW MIL-STD-1388-2B and MIL-PRF-49506 for the Theater High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) system. The LMI process involves the collection, development, and entry of data used to perform Logistics Supportability Analysis (LSA) in support of THAAD Soldier IETMS. The LMI Engineer assists the LMI Specialist with key elements in the analysis required to determine maintenance support, Soldier operator procedures, Validation of procedures, repair parts, required special tools and test equipment, Technical Manual development, and all required Maintenance procedures. This position will be based out of Huntsville, Al.

The LMI Engineer must be willing to learn and understand the Radar systems, and how data inputs and outputs affect the analysis. This position will require the candidate to work with LSA, LMI database, MIL-STD-1388-2B / MIL-PRF-49506 standards, and knowledge of MIL-STD-40051 IETM processes in support of U.S. Army soldier procedures. Occasional travel will be required in support of the contract Responsibilities will include the development of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using the Eagle Publishing System (EPS), including but not limited to the following subject matter: system functional theory, operations, preventative and corrective maintenance, schematics, and illustrated parts breakdowns from compiled engineering technical reports, drawings, and parts lists.

This individual will also participate in IETM validation, customer conferences to ensure manuals conformed to contract requirements, and scheduled peer reviews.

In addition, they will assist in the development and updating of illustrations, graphics and flow diagrams to support documentation; support contract deliverable documentation; and coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to identify and provide technical manual documents to support Organizational tasks.

This position can be a Salary Grade G07 or G08, based upon the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Required Skills:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience
  • Experience reading and understanding technical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Experience with maintenance procedure development
  • Demonstrated use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power point and Project)
Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience using EAGLE Database and EAGLE publishing tools
  • Familiarity working with LMI database.
  • Self-directed and able to execute with minimal direction
  • Good communication skills
  • 0-1+ year of professional experience reading drawings, parts lists, electrical schematics, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), technical manuals, and tool catalogs
  • Practical experience with Air and Missile Defense systems
  • Practical experience with THAAD / TPY-2
  • Prior military service is a plus
  • Able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance

Required Education (including Major):

  • BA/BS in English, Journalism, and Technical Writing, Engineering, STEM or a major related to this job description in Technical or Engineering-related discipline. 8+ years of applicable professional experience may be considered in lieu of a BS/BA
