Job Description:
The Javelin Program and Whole Life Systems Engineering (WLSE) Directorate are seeking a strong dynamic leader to serve as the Sustainment Support Deputy. Javelin is the world’s most versatile and lethal one-man-portable, anti-tank, guided munition and surveillance weapon system. It is made by the Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership between Raytheon Company and Lockheed Martin. A premier light infantry surveillance and anti-armor weapon system, Javelin provides the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and numerous international customers a fire-and-forget, medium-range missile. This position will report to the Javelin Sustainment Support Manager.
The Sustainment Support Deputy will be responsible for supporting the team in establishing, growing, managing, and directing the Javelin Sustainment team which includes, but is not limited to Field Support, Depot Logistics, Test and Evaluation, Reliability, Safety, and other aspects of LCCS. This team has a diverse footprint extending both domestically and internationally, resulting in the Huntsville-located candidate being available for both domestic and international travel. The role will not only support the team as a deputy to the Support Manager but also have direct reports working a variety of LCCS-related activities.

The Sustainment Support Team’s tasks, which the Deputy will provide hands-on support of, will include:

  • Intermediate and Depot level maintenance Management
  • Field training Management
  • Provisioning Management
  • Establish strong relationship with customer and the Javelin Joint Venture partner, Lockheed Martin
  • Leadership of the logistics team
  • Fostering an environment of change to drive logistics adaptation and process improvement
  • Employ gained experience and skills to perform critical program business analysis and affect cutting edge program logistics performance
  • Develop teaming applications continuously improving team integration and performance
  • Support the customer’s need to stand up training facilities, processes, and tools leveraging fairly mature legacy products
  • Monitor and improve program service support levels
  • Develop and employ international business knowledge and leadership
  • Embrace Program Risk and Opportunity processes to develop aggressive logistics strategies
  • Whole Life System Engineering capabilities Cross-Product Team leadership extending beyond ILS and Training to Reliability Modeling and Safety

Required Experience, Knowledge and/or Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Logistics Sciences
  • A minimum of six (6) years of Logistics experience
  • Existing DOD secret clearance - This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct business and financial analysis succinctly synthesizing Program data into decision level information streams
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

Desired Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Logistics Sciences
  • Effective task leadership, oral and written communication skills, including ability to conduct briefings with internal and external representatives
  • Results driven and detail oriented
  • Ability to assume leadership role in the absence of Program Manager
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, innovative, and strategic
  • Experience in a logistics organization with the desire to grow into a management role
  • Technical / Engineering background
  • Depot and/or Factory experience
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter who embraces program strategies
  • Ability to lead in a multi-tasking dynamic environment

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
