URS/AECOM has an opening for an Aerostat Engineering Technician 2 . This position may include a 2 month training in Elizabeth City, NC and then a 6 month assignment in Afghanistan .
This is a contingent position.
In support of the Aerostat 28M system, the Aerostat Engineering Technician 2 performs a variety of technical engineering assignments in the development, research design, manufacture, test, installation, modification, and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member or as a lead of a design, analysis or review team on less complex assignments.
Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.
Generate complete design specifications and/or procedures for complex assignments.
Build, install, monitor, test and service equipment and systems at Company and client sites.
Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, system specifications and test procedures.
Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout and contract requirements.
May support engineers in the development of technical proposal and provide input on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
Provide complex troubleshooting techniques to asset primary mission equipment (PME), avionics, pilot boards, pilot computers, radios, electrical hardware/software components.
Familiar with WESCAM MX 15, 20, 25 sensors and all variants of such sensors
Familiar with FLIR, infrared and thermal imaging systems to include laser designation systems.
Familiar with hyperspectral/multispectral imaging hardware/software and sensors.
Familiar with current SIGINT packages and family of systems.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Vocational/Technical school and/or Associates degree.
At least 8 years of job-related experience or equivalent providing troubleshooting techniques to asset primary mission equipment (PME), avionics, pilot boards, pilot computers, radios and electrical hardware/software components.
Experience working with WESCAM MX 15, 20, 25 sensors and all variants of such sensors
Experience working with FLIR, infrared and thermal imaging systems to include laser designation systems.
Experience working with hyperspectral/multispectral imaging hardware/software and sensors.
Experience working with current SIGINT packages and family of systems.
Excellent communications and analytical skills.
Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Some positions may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
Must be a U.S. citizen and have a current, valid U.S. passport.
Must have an active, final Secret security clearance.
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
Previous experience with PGSS/PTDS and/or Aerostat programs is preferred.
