The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for leading a team of business development experts focused on driving and prosecuting a market leading pipeline of new business opportunities. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a market strategy to expand our already significant footprint in the State and Local, Education, Personnel Vetting & Security markets that includes various State and Local Government accounts and the Department of Education.


Task and Responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

 

The Senior Director Business Development has overall responsibility for new business generation and ensuring that we win our re-competes. The Sector Growth Lead will serve as the Business Development Team lead and business partner for the Sector. The Sector Growth Lead will report to the FedCiv Vice President of Growth and participate as an active member of the BD leadership team.

 

The Sector Growth Lead should be familiar with all deals in the (Sector’s) pipeline, ensuring that the pipeline is aligned with the strategic and operational goals of the Sector. The partnership of the Sector Growth Lead and the Sector VP/GM (as well as the business area leaders from within each Sector) should combine the two sides (BD and delivery) and create significant synergies.  

The Sector Growth Lead has ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the pipeline data (for the Sector) is accurate and up to date.

The goal of the Sector Growth Lead is to facilitate and participate in the generation of a qualified pipeline so as to fulfill the demands of the (Sector) VP/GM’s plan for the current as well as future years. Beginning with the identification of new opportunities to capturing and winning new business, the Sector Growth Lead assists their team with the development and execution of account plans/go-to-market strategies, etc.

The Sector Growth Lead, although tasked with ownership of the overall pipeline, still has individual business development responsibilities. The Sector Growth Lead will work on his or her own pursuits within the area of his or her expertise. The Sector Growth Lead will focus on key deals within the Sector and actively contribute to the success of these pursuits.

The position requires experience in business development and a proven track record of successfully closing business on large strategic opportunities across multiple agencies. The qualified candidate will have proficiency in:

  

  • Identifying and qualifying new business opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining high quality relationships with customers and partners, including next generation technology vendors
  • Providing critical leadership to help shape opportunities and our position throughout the opportunity life-cycle
  • Formulating or supporting the communication and implementation of an integrated business development, capture and proposal strategy that clearly highlights GDIT’s value proposition and discriminators, and provides customers a clear and defensible justification for selecting GDIT for award
  • Establishing value added teaming strategies and competitive pricing structures to create a profitable return at a winning cost
  • Developing marketing strategies and providing input into market account plans with assigned account BD and P&L leaders that align with the company's strategic plan

 

 

Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of hands-on experience in Federal Sales, Business Development and Strategic Capture Experience leading a team of business development and/or capture assets
  • Extensive background developing business focused on IT Services, Lifecycle SW development, ERP solutions, and federal civilian mission focused program support offerings
  • Experience with Fed/Civ budget, investments and acquisition processes
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and be a strong team player who fosters collaboration
