Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advanced Software Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Performs software requirements analysis, participates in research, designs, develops and tests software and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancing existing applications, systems or embedded products
Codes, tests, integrates and documents software solutions
Applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of complex software and architectures
Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposals, market trends, state of technology and industry, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
Participates in internal review of software components and systems


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
A seasoned, experienced professional with a highly proficient understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories and expert at applying technical standards and methodologies to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways
Capable of working on problems of diverse scope requiring extensive analysis of data and evaluation of a multitude of factors
Highly proficient knowledge of the software development process as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Highly proficient knowledge of other related engineering and support disciplines
Detailed and highly proficient knowledge of technology trends and champions new ideas and product and process improvements
Highly proficient knowledge of software tools supporting Integrated Development Environments (IDE), version control, defect reporting and scripting
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
The Skillset Requirements include the following technologies:
Angular 1.x
Gulp and Gradle build systems
SASS has been integrated as well as support for EcmaScript6
An understanding Java/Apache 7.0 and the Postgres database is advantageous
The Developer’s Typical Tasks:
Build large-scale enterprise features in the application
Provided proof-of-concept sections for the team
Provide UX style guidance
Resolve bugs across the application (where needed)

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is desired at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
