Job Summary
The Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the maintenance cycle for assigned program equipment to ensure satisfactory completion of the program objectives.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Supervises all maintenance/preventive maintenance operations for assigned equipment in accordance with applicable PWS, company policies, OSHA, DOT, ANSI, ASME and applicable military regulations
  • Establishes job priorities and estimates down time. Coordinates work flow for downed equipment waiting for parts to minimize backlog of work and cost to customer division
  • Provides direct support to internal/external customers to ensure compliance, tracking efficiency, burn rates, equipment usage and maximizing cost avoidance measures
  • Supervises the recovery operations of for customer material handling equipment (MHE), vertical equipment (VE), construction equipment (CE), heavy and light vehicle maintenance throughout assigned area of operation
  • Coordinates the proper administration, maintenance and distribution of approved publications, warranty documentation, and the loss, damage, or destruction (LDD) and estimated cost of damage (ECOD) documentation
  • Provides input to management for forecasting and monitoring stock levels for required service/repair parts and petroleum
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of all required plans and reports
  • Maintains effective lines of formal and informal communication among all levels of management and the customer as required
  • Acts as the POC for all maintenance issues in the absence of the Maintenance Manager
  • Supervise assigned staff to include vacation planning, discipline, conducting performance evaluations, and training
  • Responsible to provide for and enforce guidelines to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all assigned employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Skilled in mechanical inspection, verification of finished work, and maintenance and repair of assigned customer vehicles
  • Working knowledge of maintenance production, production control and knowledge of customer maintenance support systems
  • Ability to diagnose malfunctions, conduct technical research, and make mechanical repairs to MHE, heavy trucks, heavy equipment or other assigned equipment
  • Knowledge of equipment parts acquisition, warranty, LDD, and ECOD submissions
  • Working knowledge of applicable DOT, OSHA, ANSI, ASME, military regulations standards and OEM requirements
  • Strong understanding of customer contracting policies and procedures
  • Strong problem solving skills and sound judgment
  • Excellent writing, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrative proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Must understand and be able to use technical manuals and schematic diagrams
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently

Experience & Education

  • High school degree or equivalent. Associate's degree in an associated discipline preferred
  • Six (6) years of logistics experience in a military/tactical environment
  • Prefer at least three (3) years in a maintenance supervisor environment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Work under stressful circumstances and meets shorts suspense dates
  • Must be free of medical restriction/ limitations that prevent the performance of required duties and/ or prevent the wearing and utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be physically capable of performing the work in conditions of extreme temperatures, low humidity, rain and blowing sand and dust
  • Employee shall utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices associated with all lifting and material handling tasks that are assigned and associated with this job description
  • May be required to work on uncommon hours of duty, extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a military operator’s permit for each type of vehicle or equipment required to operate
    • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
