The position will provide systems engineering support to the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) New Entrant Certification Team (NECT) through the 30 LCG/ 1ASTS at Vandenberg Air Force Base to certify the capability of potential New Entrant launch vehicle providers for launch services for the Department of Defense (DoD) National Security Space (NSS) missions.

Assess and evaluate the New Entrant’s systems engineering processes and their application to launch complex design, development, activation, verification, and validation efforts

• Assess and evaluate the New Entrant’s launch complex requirements, design and verification/validation documentation and provide risk recommendations
• Monitor New Entrant processes and procedures including vehicle processing flow for launch, static fire, Wet Dress Rehearsals (WDRs), and other operations
• Observe New Entrant launch readiness reviews, post-flight ground system performance reviews, and other reviews as necessary
• Support launch site related technical interchange meetings, design reviews and Engineering Review Boards
• Evaluate launch site environmental compliance with California and Federal environmental regulations and laws
• Perform analysis of system safety and range safety compliance plans and processes iaw AFSPCMAN 91-710 and MIL-STD-882(x) and verify implementation of these plans

• Bachelors Degree (Engineering) & 10-12 years of related experience or 15 years of experience required with no degree
• Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Power Point
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Visual Basic (preferred)
