Cable Plant Management / Technician Support:

ManTech International currently has an opening for a Functional Analyst / Technician Support to support theDepartment of Homeland Security’s USCIS Division.

ManTech is currently supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) program level systemsengineering activities and requires qualified dynamic person to performplanning, engineering, prioritization, coordination and project scheduling,system assurance activities and MAC requests. This program level support isrequired across all areas of the organization and must adhere to theestablished Systems Engineering Life CycleMethodology (SELC) and USCIS softwaredevelopment frameworks.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Cable Plant Management / Technician Supportwill assist team with the engineering, installing and deploying of cable plantinfrastructure projects for information technology systems for daily operation,new build and renovation of existing facilities to successfully deliversignificant infrastructure change in a large-scale enterprise environment in the National Capital Region and surrounding area to support tasks related to USCIS facilities and projects. This position requires in-depth knowledge of IT project management, structured cable plantdesign/implementation, computer room build out best practices, Network Infrastructure Solutions and customer support.

This position requires the use of collaborativecommunication skills to influence others, with or without direct authority, and to unite groups with diverse perspectives in order to bring teams toconsensus/alignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform the necessary tasks to support MAC (Move, Add or Change) requests for new and existing facilities which will be executed through the documentation process (Work Order, etc.) to complete requested services.
  • Facilitate design implementation and guidance of OIT component related to the copper/fiber distribution systems – cable plant installation, pathways, product specification, data center, wireless, security, OSP, CATV, AV, LAN, VoIP, etc.
  • Supports projects related to, but not limited to, new facility construction, office expansion/renovation, network infrastructure upgrade, bandwidth upgrade, computer room environmental efficiency, physical access control and VTC.
  • Participate in design, planning, construction, implementation and documentation meetings. Meetings may occur with customer, sub-contractors, other government agencies and various project shareholders.
  • Candidate must be a problem solver in effective troubleshooting OIT related issues encountered.

Work for this position will require project/ticket tracking, reporting, etc. for management and the customer along with their related systems in accordance with the SPEDI contract.

DESIRED SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with the installation, termination and certification of cable plant installations (CAT 5E, 6, 6A, fiber optic, etc.), risers, pathways, spaces, bonding and grounding and fire stopping is required.
  • Strong computer skills – Ability to work with Excel, MS, Visio, etc. required
  • Construction background with ability to interpret drawings, plans and specifications
  • Familiarity of BICSI, ANSI, TIA, EIA, NEC, NFPA, etc. standards and code requirements.
  • Combination of BICSI, IT/Telecommunication training and manufacturer’s certifications desired.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience with formal writing and preparing and presenting briefs.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and quick turnaround deliverables.
  • Ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust clearance.
