Job Description
The Whole Life Systems Engineering (WLSE) Department at Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) is looking for an experienced Technologist for the Integrated Mission Support Solutions program portfolio in the TOW Systems, and Reconnaissance and Targeting Systems businesses within the Land Warfare Systems area.

As the Technologist, your tasks will include being the SME for the Improved Target Acquisition System / Modified Target Acquisition System (ITAS/MITAS) weapons system and will be the final line of support before system is sent to Depot level repair. The candidate must be willing to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations. Candidate must have flexibility by providing reach back technical support to Raytheon Field Engineers (RFE) and US Army/USMC customers outside normal working hours. Candidate’s primary responsibilities are providing reach back support, extensive troubleshooting of the ITAS/MITAS system and initiating field level repairs on the ITAS/MITAS system.

The Technologist must have ability to analyze systemic failures and recommend processes to improve system design or procedures for the ITAS/MITAS Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) program. Candidate will be required to collaborate with ITAS/MITAS engineering to analyze design trend failures and continue to self-educate on the weapon system as it evolves. Candidate will conduct investigations into damaged equipment to determine root cause and corrective actions. Candidate will support the development of service bulletins by providing procedures and graphics to introduce for use in the field. Candidate will analyze ITAS/MITAS performance and failure data to create new processes and procedures that enhances ITAS/MITAS operational readiness.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

NOTE: This position can be a Salary Grade G08 or Salary Grade G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in electronics (optics / infrared) or equivalent military electronics experience.
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Former active duty or direct experience working with military and/or DoD customers (Army/USMC).

Desired Skills:
  • Ability and desire to teach and mentor all members of the ITAS team.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude to make field level repairs to ITAS in remote locations.
  • Basic mechanical and electronics knowledge.
  • Electro-mechanical hands on experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including ability to conduct briefings with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to fault isolate and troubleshoot in a collaborative effort with field engineers via telephone.
  • Extensive knowledge of the ITAS system (Operator/Maintainer).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree
