Our team has a need for a Software Engineering Section Manager, in the Systems Applications Department, who is inspired by a job that challenges you to be proactive, make decisions and generate ideas that will push products above and beyond. As a Systems Applications section manager, the applicant is will perform functional management tasks and be actively engaged in the technical and/or programmatic aspects of programs within an Integrated Product Team. You will guide and oversee the design, build, test and delivery of advanced high-capacity systems that process modern communications for the U.S. intelligence community.

Section managers are responsible for providing engineering leadership to ensure that cost, schedule and technical performance comply with program needs and the AST processes. Engineering leadership tasks include but not are not limited to such activities as ensuring adequate resources (personnel and assets) are dedicated to programs, providing technical guidance, developing career paths, facilitating alignment with engineering command media, leading productivity improvement and risk mitigation initiatives, performing other functional duties in support of normal operations and providing cost estimates for proposal activities.

  • Required Skills:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development with organizations developing electronic system for DoD or IC entities
  • Line Management experience with a group of at least 8 engineers
  • Technical leadership experience for a small team of engineers
  • Experience providing career development for and evaluating performance of section members
  • Experience contributing technical work products throughout the entire Systems life cycle
  • Experience working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience providing technical leadership to engineers throughout the entire Systems lifecycle
  • Experience programming in C/C++, Python, Perl, or similar languages
  • Experience hiring technical staff
  • Experience debugging systems
  • Experience tailoring systems engineering processes to specific programs
  • Experience in defining and scoping system-level technical efforts from technical tasking and staffing standpoints for bidding, proposal, or program execution activities
  • Active Top Secret Clearance (Active within the last 24 months) with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in one or more of the following software development, systems development or mission support
  • Experience recognizing areas of improvement or customer needs and relaying them to senior staff as business development possibilities
  • Experience with or basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing
  • Experience with test automation practices or techniques
  • Experience in hardware or software development and testing
  • Experienced in design, development and testing of complex hardware and software data processing systems
  • Experience with Object Oriented Design and Development
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools, such as git
  • Experience with process improvement
  • Earned Value certified
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance (Active within the last 24 months)
Required Education: Bachelors of Science (B.S.) Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or related field
