Need an experienced individual to serve as a Parts Manager within the Airborne Parts Management Section within the Component Engineering Department (CED) for Space and Airborne Systems. This position will be based in El Segundo, California. The individual must be self-motivated and able to work independently. The individual will be required to develop proposals and coordinate bids for all component efforts (Component Engineering, part test, Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) and data review) submitted to the Program. Individual will facilitate and support contract negotiations, basis of estimates, and supplier statements of work for proposal efforts. The individual will be responsible for overall cost and schedule for all component engineering efforts. Individual must demonstrate ability to interfacing with Suppliers, Program Management, Design Engineering, Supply Chain Management and Component Engineering personnel. The individual will be expected to present part issues and resolutions in meetings with customers and Program personnel. The individual must maintain the program parts management plan and obsolescence tracking matrix, and work with Component Engineering and the Program office to ensure that technical requirements are met. The individual will drive issue resolution for situations involving parts obsolescence through support or execution of lifetime buys, selections of alternate parts, redesign efforts or other mitigation strategies. The individual will perform and/or assist in the performance of Parts Engineering, Components Engineering or Applications Engineering tasks supporting programs in the Proposal, System Design Description, Production, Production and Sustainment Support phases. Position will require day to day interface with Designers, Contracts, Estimating, Supply Chain, Program Management, and other disciplines. The individual will be required to understand and/or generate a program requirements, statement of work (SOW) and other defined customer component application requirements. The individual will be working with Program Bill of Materials (BOMs) to assure their completeness and accuracy. The individual will provide technical support to procurement and engineering which includes the review of drawings and specifications to ensure technical requirements, compliance with quality, and program requirements are met. The individual will track and report status of technical issues relating to drawing and specification changes, and use of alternate parts to support the manufacturing build cycle.

Occasional travel to supplier sites will be required.

Required Skills :

  • Minimum six years of experience in engineering, manufacturing or product support.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical and schedule risks and to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • At least two or more years experience managing components, component failure modes, MIL specs and MIL Standards, project management and parts management.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with parts, suppliers, and parts all aspects of parts obsolescence.
  • US Citizenship, ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
  • Have proficient hands on computer skills
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
