Job Description:

- The systems engineer will support the SSC Pacific CAMEO/RIC project which is focused on improving aviation logistics through data- driven initiatives.
- This position will support multiple facets in systems engineering with working knowledge in project management.
- The candidate shall assist the systems architect and team in formulating and assessing current and future needs of the project, conducting analysis of alternatives, and contributing to the development of the project roadmap.

Job Responsibilities:

- Assist in the transition of incoming capabilities
- Conduct assessments of new and revised external stakeholder mission/user needs, author policies, directives, and other stakeholder guidance, and identify latent and emerging needs in advance of change
- Conduct capabilities assessments using the most current architecture standards and guiding principles from Government and private industry
- Conduct capability gap assessments (i.e., evaluate the difference between architecture needs and current- funded capabilities) conduct technology gaps assessments (i.e., evaluate the difference between capability gap and available or forecasted technology solutions)
- Leverage capability gap assessments to support creation of the program objective memorandum, unfunded requirements, and proposed future capabilities
- Assist the Lab Manager and Configuration Manager by assessing current environment, reviewing/documenting disaster recovery/contingency plans, and assessing the current information technology perspective of the project infrastructure.
- This includes assessing lab floor layout, power and cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation
- Understand and develop required documents from both RDT&E and from an
- Acquisition Documents requirements perspective
- Assist in reviewing test procedure documents and provide constructive feedback. Run scripts in a test environment and exercise back-out procedures
- Participate in resolving technical issues that arise during development and sustainment
- Apply working knowledge in developing and reviewing architectures
- Communicate and coordinate with software development team
- Assist the Lead Systems Engineer in responding to Sponsor Technical Data Calls as needed

Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience

Required Skills:

- Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle model in the development of software products
- Proficient in MS Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project, and the ability to work on multiple web platforms
- 8+ years of recent experience researching products and communicating with vendors
- Good communications skills, both oral and written

Desired experience:

- Recent experience with mind mapping tools
- Understanding of network architectures
- Working knowledge in business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with minimum supervision
- Recent experience working on government funded programs
- Systems Engineering Fundamentals course or proven experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Security + certification and/or network technical certifications
- Knowledge in DoDAF and architecture development
- Working knowledge in software sustainment
- Working knowledge in Cyber Security
- Recent experience with Scrum process
- Recent use of JIRA, Confluence, and/or similar collaboration tools
- Current or prior SPAWAR/SSC Pacific experience

Required Clearances:

- Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain a Secret clearance).
