The Strategic Senior Business Development Manager reports to the Business Development Executive within our Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Business Development team and is responsible for analyzing markets, formulating business strategies, developing long term business plans, and allocating investment resources accordingly in support of our Integrated Air Missile Defense (IAMD) Product Lines. This is a high-impact and high-visibility position that can set the stage for significant career growth opportunities in Raytheon Business Development.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Track and analyze trends in the U.S. and global national security environment
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our product portfolio, our competitors’ portfolio, and the external factors that drive customer buying decisions
Develop, share, and refresh annually a deep quantitative forecast (size, growth, market share, by segment and competitor) and qualitative analysis (competitive dynamics, evolving business models, customer buying behaviors, etc.) for all relevant defense markets, both domestic and international
Develop and maintain continuously, and share with the team, a deep understanding of the competitive/industrial landscape relevant to our product set
Assess the strengths and weaknesses in our market positions and product portfolio and correlate those assessments with our forecasted sales pipeline in order to identify areas where a deeper strategic reviews may be needed
Provide in-house expertise for business case development and profit-driven decision-making in order to optimize revenue and profit growth with our limited investment resources
Working in partnership with Finance, Engineering and P&L leadership, to drive the development of a balanced 5 year investment plan that supports company strategic business goals using resources in a self-consistent and efficient manner across all investment categories (Bid and Proposal, Selling, Research and Development, and Capital)
Identify, analyze, and drive to decision and execution any potential opportunities where strategic partnerships, joint ventures or mergers & acquisitions (M&A) would improve business outcomes
Lead the development of briefing materials and supporting documents for the annual strategic planning process and the annual Strategic Dialogue with corporate leadership
Partner with Business Areas and Functions on specific projects to drive growth and innovation
Work across MSS and the whole of IDS to develop and maintain international country strategies
From time to time, design and oversee the execution of supplemental market assessments and competitive assessments performed by consultants
Provide clear and concise business strategy presentations for senior leaders
US Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active US Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience
Experience working in the domestic/international aerospace and defense market, or equivalent (such as a large consulting firm)
Minimum of 5 years experience in strategy or equivalent experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and internet resources
Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance or higher
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
A deep understanding of U.S. and global defense markets and procurement processes
Previous experience creating detailed market assessments and forecasts
Previous experience with corporate strategic planning processes and best practices
Previous experience with investment prioritization and business case assessments
Proven ability to develop effective internal and external relationships
Knowledge of missile defense systems, radar systems, and related products
A working knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and portfolio management
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, engineering or a related field
Master’s degree or MBA
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A critical/strategic thinker and change leader with ability to solve complex, time-sensitive problems
Superior ethical standards beyond reproach
Ability to produce superior quality work in a timely fashion while simultaneously managing numerous projects
An existing DoD security clearance of Secret or higher
