GDIT is leading the effort of developing the Joint Effect Model (JEM) for the Joint Project Manager Information Systems (JPM IS) under the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD).  JEM is a Web-based software application that supplies the Department of Defense (DoD) with a single accredited tool to effectively model and simulate the effects of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) weapon strikes and incidents.  JEM can provide warfighters with the ability to accurately model and predict the time-phased impact of CBRN and Toxic Industrial Chemical/Material (TIC/TIM) events and effects.

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help lead this effort for GDIT. The Senior Software Engineer researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software. You will also:  

  • Design and code software components, units, and modules that meet product specifications and development schedules
  • Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
  • Test and debug assigned components and units
  • Participate in large system and subsystem planning
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems and works with them to resolve incompatibilities
  • Write and update technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide customer support for software operating systems and application issues
  • Advise hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years of related software development experience
  • Six (6) years of experience in "Relevant Technical Field", to include: Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Support, Test and Evaluation, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements.
  • Three (3) years of technical experience in support of (CBRN hazard prediction modeling, OSGi, CCMI)

Education:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Chemical/Nuclear/Network Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics or Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
