About the Position:
The Program Manager will manage the delivery of energy efficiency services for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers with a focus on customer and internal needs, including business support, coordination of services, program offerings and the tracking of energy savings, budget spending, participation and key performance indicators. The Program Manager will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve customer satisfaction, productivity, and process efficiency through the use of best practices and market-driven strategies. This role will be responsible for managing the overall performance of the Commercial & Industrial programs in Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island to achieve the committed program energy savings targets within the program budgets.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Business Support – Provide support for Commercial Sales and Channel Sales and Strategic Account Partnership teams. Business support includes, but is not limited to: providing information on energy efficiency offerings and eligibility, helping customers understand required procedures and participation forms, working with Lead Implementation Vendors and proactively following-up to confirm their understanding of services available.
Typical activities include leading and attending meetings with Commercial Sales, Channel Sales, Strategic Account Partnership team and stakeholders; presenting at various internal and external meetings on the delivery of Commercial and Industrial programs; in-person at multiple Massachusetts/Rhode Island locations, initiating and responding to emails and phone calls.
Services Coordination – Act as primary point-of-contact and work with all parties currently leading and managing National Grid’s Commercial & Industrial energy efficiency programs. Act as primary point of contact for Commercial Sales & Strategic Partnership leaders for progress to delivery of goals.
Goal Tracking & Development – Monitor progress toward regulatory goals and sales goals for energy savings, budget spending, and participation, as well as internal goals (key performance indicators) of program energy efficiency implementation and productivity. If/when necessary, develop and execute gap closer tactics to boost performance to goals. Lead efforts to develop budgets and set targets for the programs.
Program Improvement and Development – Proactively seek ways to improve energy efficiency services for customers by soliciting customer and stakeholder feedback, implementing best practices through engagement in Process Excellence Hubs and exploring ways to streamline processes, and developing communication materials. Collaborate with internal partners to develop robust strategies that offer best-in-class approaches to energy efficiency for the participating market.
Proactively develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Represent National Grid values when meeting with key internal and external stakeholders such as business, municipal, or regulatory agencies.
Deliver high quality work with adherence to internal and external deadlines.
Develop and maintain a solid understanding of the business by staying abreast of business trends, and learning and sharing best practices.
Develop and maintain a technical understanding of energy efficiency services and measures that apply to programs, technologies and properties.
Research primary data sources and analyze trends to support defining the approach and performance targets for the market.
Manage the day-to-day relationship with Commercial Sales, Channel Sales, Strategic Account Partnership team, vendors and other external service providers, including effective negotiation, interpretation, and application of established contractual agreements and/or service level agreements.
Working collaboratively with business units, such as Customer Energy Management, Marketing, Procurement to help achieve goals.
Administering and managing program budget and savings goals.
Managing and motivating vendor and contractor relationships through peak performance through innovative and stretching metrics.
Ensuring that program contract key performance indicators are met
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a related area preferred and 3+ years of related experience (energy efficiency program management preferred). Advanced degree is preferred.
An understanding of commercial building structures including the systems within.
Proficiency in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Understanding of Tableau software.
Knowledge of relevant industry practices, trends, and legislation.
Demonstrated experience with Excel Pivot Tables
Ability to adapt and tailor approach to wide variety of audiences
Ability to organize information (quantitative and qualitative)
Attention to detail
Strong collaboration skills
