Job Description:
Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, currently has an opening for a Network Administrator to perform from either our McLean, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD office. The individual will be responsible for performing a full range of IT functions within classified and unclassified areas, providing practical and consistent solutions to challenging problems.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of the corporate Local Area Networks (LANs) at all RAST sites, as well as the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM). The individual will also support classified and unclassified lab and program networks and systems. Up to 25% travel to other RAST sites in Utah and California may be required and frequent travel between McLean and Annapolis Junction will be required.

The individual will report to an IT Manager located at another site and must have demonstrated experience working both independently and with remote teams across multiple time zones.

Security Clearance: Candidate must possess an Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and be willing and able to obtain additional clearances and program access. Successful candidate will be required to complete a Full Scope Polygraph and must maintain all clearances and program access throughout employment.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, including software updates
  • Administration of Local Area Networks, including IOS updates and hardware upgrades
  • Installation, termination and troubleshooting of copper (e.g. Cat5) and fiber-optic cabling
  • Administration and troubleshooting of DNS and DHCP services on Microsoft Windows servers
  • Configuration and administration of firewalls such as Cisco ASA or ForcePoint
  • Create and execute Disaster Recovery plans
  • Create and maintain documentation such as procedures and network diagrams
  • Provide routine activity reports to management
  • Review Service Request queues and resolve assigned requests in a timely manner
  • Partner with other functions such as Information Assurance and Engineering
  • Collaborate with RAST, SAS and GBS IT staff at remote sites

Required Skills:
  • US Citizenship
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Four (4) years of experience in network administration of Cisco-based Layer 3 switched Local Area Networks, including Layer 1 installation, troubleshooting and termination of copper (e.g. Cat5) and fiber-optic cabling
  • Well-versed in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and related technologies
  • Demonstrated experience administering all facets of a multi-site deployment of Cisco CallManager and Unity
  • Experienced in configuration, administration and troubleshooting of firewalls
  • Experience researching compliance issues and formulating recommendations to management
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds in support of hardware installations
  • Familiarity with 66 and 110 blocks
  • CompTIA Security+, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification for IAT Level II, within 6 months of hire

Desired Skills:
  • Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full-Scope Polygraph
  • Four (4) years of experience in installation, configuration and administration of virtualized environments with hypervisors such as VMWare and KVM
  • Four (4) years of experience in Windows System Administration:
    • Windows desktop administration (Windows 7 or newer)
    • Windows Server administration (Windows Server 2012 or newer) to include infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Four (4) years of experience in installation, configuration and administration of network storage using NetApp products
  • Demonstrated skill in reading, writing, modifying, and executing simple scripts on Windows and Linux systems
  • Experience working in and supporting classified areas, to include:
    • Understanding Information Assurance requirements
    • Performing security audits on networked and standalone systems
  • Experience with installation, configuration and troubleshooting a variety of network and security management tools including, but not limited to:
    • Centrify
    • Lumension
    • Puppet
    • Solarwinds
    • Splunk
    • Symantec NetBackup
  • Active IT-based certifications including:
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Windows Server 2012 or newer
    • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA),
    • VMWare certifications such as VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) Version 6 or newer
