Position Summary

Plan, manage, and oversee the daily functions, operations, of the district cementing engineers to continuously improve district productivity, service quality, and efficiency. Coordinate with sales, operations, and district laboratory staffs to ensure timely and quality delivery of bids, engineering reports, and lab results to internal and external clients.Pro-actively develop, standardize, and share best practices and local training initiatives, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering services, products, and projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for supporting district cementing strategies, new technology introductions, irregular job reporting, service quality improvement efforts, and customer or operation training efforts.
  • Builds and maintains positive, and mutually beneficial relationships with the technical customer base. Provides technical presentations at the customer location as required by the customer or as directed by Cement Business Segment.
  • Trains individuals in district on engineering/technical applications, processes, and software. Presents at customer lunch & learn sessions or employee training classes on matters relating to cementing technology.
  • Provides cementing job design, onsite support, and post job analysis to customers in district.
  • Provides engineering and technical advice to operations personnel, utilizing technical product knowledge, methods, procedures, and capabilities of equipment and services.
  • Consults with customers to determine their specific needs and offers engineering and technical advice to solve problems that may occur at the well site.
  • Actively interfaces with Sales to promote business opportunities.
  • Makes recommendations and develops job designs for cementing operations.
  • Actively deals with customer requirements and complaints.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to Sales Representatives, and Cement Engineers.
  • Provides advice and may supervise field personnel on technically complex cementing jobs.
  • Assists with RFP/Tender preparation and submission.
  • Promotes teamwork on a continuous basis.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Detail-oriented and strong communication (written and oral).
  • Ability to handle a dynamic work environment within defined deadlines. 
  • Ability to run and trouble shoot cementing simulation software.
  • Detailed understanding of cement chemistry, wellbore hydraulics, relevant API standards, and local/state regulations.  Lab result interpretation and troubleshooting knowledge required. 
  • Motivated; a “self-starter”; able to work independently.
  • Ability to coach, train, and motivate local cement engineers
  • Ability to interface with customers in the effort to maintain positive customer relations.

Required Experience and Education

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in oilfield cementing services, design, fluids, and processes.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership/supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge and use of cementing and fluid design software
  • Strong cement design aptitude & experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • API/ASTM Knowledge.
