SAIC is seeking a Mission Control System (MCS) Engineer on the OMES II contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This position is a mid-level role with an emphasis on software advancement in support of the Mission Control System segment of the Ground System for Restore-L. The position is located in Greenbelt, MD.

The Restore-L mission is a Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Satellite Servicing Project Division (SSPD) managed mission. Restore-L is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the Restore-L Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services. SSPD is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test and operations of the Restore-L Mission through an integrated team at GSFC.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Support design, development, integration, testing, and post-launch activities
• Develop detailed specifications and write code, including unit tests
• Develop and maintain a continuous and on-demand automated software build and release process on Linux and Windows
• Package software for simple installation
• Support integration of the Mission Control System subsystems
• Participate in verification and validation activities (planning, execution, test reports)
• Support development of Interface Control Documents (ICD)
• Support development of design review packages for NASA reviews
• Work with team members to troubleshoot defects and actions and drive them to completion

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of related experience
• Experience with satellite ground system life-cycle development
- Knowledge of how different components interface with each other in requirements and design space: Telemetry & Command, Mission Planning/Scheduling, Video Processing, Product Distribution, Analysis
- Knowledge of system engineering and integration tools, including configuration and change management tools
• Experience in ground system development, installation and test
• Experience with software development
• Mainstream language experience (C++, Java, Python)
• Experience with continuous integration
• Experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks
• Experience with VMs
• Linux familiarity including networking, software package management and general scripting in languages such as Bash

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Experience developing simulation capabilities for training, rehearsals and integration testing
• Experience with Space Network and Near-Earth Network interfaces and capabilities
