The Aircraft Worker makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker, assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
Make repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker
Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings; bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, work cable pulleys, frayed spark plug cables, and burned-out landing lights, using hand tools.
Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments
Obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples.
Services engines and aircraft components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul
Required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition
Required to perform inspections to include daily and turnarounds and post flight checks
Have full knowledge of aircraft related hazardous materials and their use.
Perform other job related duties as may be assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of systems related to individual specialty codes
Ability to use military and company publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm and diagrams
Knowledge of supply procedures.
Possess a valid US State driver's license.
Ability to read and interpret data is required.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Ability to obtain a Government flight line driver’s license.
Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
Experience & Education
High School degree or equivalent required.
Minimum of three (3) years actual and recent experience in the repair, modification, maintenance and overhaul of systems related to individual specialty codes.
A & P and FCC Licenses are desirable, but are not a requirement.
Personnel within this classification must be specialized in one or more of the following SCA Occupational Codes:
23070 Aircraft Worker
05040 Automotive Worker
05160 Motor Equipment Metal Worker

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
