This is a multi-level position that can be a salary grade G08 or G09 based on the candidates’ qualification as they relate to the skills, experience and education required for this position.

Job Description:
The Standard Missile 2 program has an opening for a program Quality Engineer who will provide support to procurement, production and development activities including, but not limited to the following:

  • Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies
  • Regularly generate and publish Quality metrics, including Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis or Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations. This activity includes: identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB)
  • Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary
  • Support engineering development and maintenance activities by reviewing engineering drawings, auditing labs, assuring configuration management, and assigning appropriate requirement verifications
  • Regularly interface with US customer, Navy Tech Representatives and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
  • Review and approve Technical Data Package (TDP), Manufacturing Data Package (MDP), factory or supplier process changes and assign and/or conduct the appropriate requirements verifications
Required Skills:
  • Minimum of Four(4) years of experience in related Quality, Operations, Engineering or related discipline
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in negotiating, having difficult conversations, and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication and networking skills
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to learn new data systems and mine historical qualitative quality data
  • Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Motivated and self-starting team player who achieves results and continuously strives for improvement
  • Ability to read, comprehend and communicate technical data
  • Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
  • High computer proficiency, including skills working with Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word Visio)
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in supporting design process
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in process and/or product improvements
  • Experience leading teams in conducting RCCA Root Cause Corrective Action

Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
    Master’s degree strongly desired

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance at a future date. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
