Senior Electrical Engineer II (FPGA Verification Engineer)

The Receiver, Exciter, and Signal Processing (RESP) Department in the Electrical Design Directorate (EDD) at Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong Digital Logic Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) verification skills and experience to join our team. This position will support the Multi-Function RF System (MFRFS) product line located in McKinney, Texas.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Working with Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineers to interpret and refine system-level requirements
  • Applying advanced technical principles and concepts to architect testable, easily-integrated FPGA designs
  • Developing Firmware Requirements Specifications for FPGA designs.
  • Performing implementation tradeoffs, and presenting, explaining, and refining design approaches in consultation with other product stakeholders.
  • VHDL-based RTL and functional design, analysis and verification.
  • Support hardware and system integration, test, and qualification.
  • Design documentation and design maintenance
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in digital hardware FPGA design and verification, or minimum 4 years with a related Master’s degree
  • Experience with FPGA and CPLD devices and development tools from Xilinx, Intel/Altera, and Microsemi
  • Fluency with Hardware Design Language (VHDL, Verilog and/or System Verilog) or experience with embedded software development using object oriented programming language
  • Proficiency with Modelsim and/or Questa Sim for functional verification
  • Familiarity with code coverage tools for evaluating test coverage
  • Experience with simulation using both directed test and constrained random methodologies
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills
Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of radar and/or communications waveform control
  • Experience using DOORs tool for requirements capture and flow of requirements through multiple levels of specifications
  • Experience working in a system integration environment, verifying requirements and identifying and correcting defects
  • Knowledge of System Verilog Assertions, UVM and UVM Register Abstraction Layer (RAL)
  • Experience with scripting in Python, Tcl, Perl, or shell scripting
  • Digital Signal Processing and simulation using MATLAB or equivalent

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
