Raytheon Global Business Services (GBS) IT Business Applications Services (BAS) Team has an opening for a Deputy Domain Architect.

The Business Application Services (BAS) organization is a recognized leader in the delivery of application lifecycle services on behalf of Raytheon. BAS collaborates with our business and functional partners to drive business value through innovative solutions and services excellence. BAS supports the strategic direction of Raytheon through agile application delivery, the pursuit of emerging technologies, and by ensuring the reliability and compliance of mission critical applications.

The Deputy Domain Architect will be responsible for supporting the BAS Domain Architect in driving the evolution of development capabilities, enterprise architecture alignment, technologies in solutions, onboarding emerging technologies and driving technology innovation and adoption in the organization.

Job Description:

Oversight, evaluation and publication of technologies and the technology roadmap, usage guidelines and recommended best practicesBased on the technology roadmap, partnering with Portfolio Execution Leads and Portfolio Technology Leads to drive technology standards compliance across the application portfolio. Serve as the primary technical point of contact to oversee and guide supplier adherence to technology standards and practicesDriving digital transformation in the BAS organization, including process standardization and alignment, automation and technology adoptionProvide guidance for consistent evaluation and measurement of code quality, Cloud adoption, solution scalability and reusability in partnership with Development and OperationsBAS representative and advocate to all Business Units for DevOps technologies and methodologies, MicroServices, Cloud (SaaS as well as GBS-IT operated applications) and other Strategic Technologies as neededReviewing and resolution of architectural issues which arise and to represent the organization to Solutions Engineering and the Enterprise IT Architecture CouncilReviewing of technical platforms and approaches for GBS-IT solutions, including review and feedback on Architecture Overview Documents (AOD)Supporting alignment of business, function and technology roadmaps and application roadmapsGuiding common development processes across new and maintenance development activitiesAssisting the BAS Directorates in understanding and articulating existing and emerging technologies in pace with BAS activities Reviewing and optimization of common toolsets and automation

  • Required Skills:
  • Minimum 8+ years applicable experience and Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge in methods for architecture creation and decomposition, traceability to business value streams and service offerings, requirements generation and analysis, architecting for performance, system design patterns, message interface and API management
  • Proven track record of applying architecture processes and patterns to successful operational solutions at scale
  • Working knowledge of all phases of the development lifecycle
  • Experience in application and solutions architecture
  • Experience leading other architects in a team environment
  • Solid background and knowledge of modern web application development and languages (Java, Java Script, C#)
  • Experience preparing and implementing technology roadmaps, large scale application design, triage of architecture problems and issues as well as designing for performance and ease of monitoring
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, partners, co-workers, customers and third-party vendors
  • Experience with security and testing practices and tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience developing creative technical designs to address complex business problems
  • Knowledge and experience in the establishment of a DevOps pipeline to include build, governance, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
  • Knowledge and experience in the design, implementation, testing, deployment and support of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) or Microservices frameworks
  • Business travel approximately 10% over the course of a calendar year

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

  • Desired Skills:
  • Expertise in cloud architecture implementation in Government instances of Amazon Web Services (e.g. GovCloud) and/or Microsoft Azure (e.g. Microsoft Azure for Government)
  • Experience working with IT Security, End User Services, Infrastructure Services, Enterprise Architecture an Solutions Engineering
  • Knowledge of Raytheon policies and procedures, specifically as they relate to compliance (e.g. EXIM, DFARs)
  • Expertise in Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)
  • Experience executing utilizing Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience interacting in geographically dispersed team
  • Established history as an innovator, early adopter and technology visionary
  • Proven history of strategic planning
  • Highly self-motivated, directed, and change oriented
  • Influential communication and ability to achieve alignment
  • Proven track record of achieving desired results
  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to debate, dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with others collaboratively and constructively
  • Expertise in application security practices
  • Understanding and ability to design application controls for compliance
  • Industry or Raytheon Architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF, Raytheon Certified Architect)
  • Required Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related discipline.
