This position is for a Mechanical Engineer Ito perform research, design, qualification and analysis of mechanical systems for military applications, with a focus on aircraft and armament products. The candidate will be responsible for the design of new products as well as the improvement of existing products. The candidate will utilize their mechanical engineering expertise during the development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design. The candidate will create design solutions that meet product requirements using 3-D CAD modeling software, and prepare detailed data packages for use in production, integration, and testing.

Chosen team member will work with multi-disciplinary teams supporting military programs during the product development cycle. Assignments may include mechanical design, mechanical analysis, integration support, and test support of uniquely complex hardware. Candidate will work under limited supervision while exercising responsibility in meeting the technical, financial and schedule objectives of projects. Engineering decisions are data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of peer reviewers and engineering review boards.

Required Skills:

  • Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate to technical as well as non-technical audiences
  • Strong desire to learn and contribute in a team based environment
  • Experience using 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO preferred)
  • Understanding of structural materials and manufacturing processes
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Security Clearance - This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:
  • Previous industry experience (internships/co-ops)
  • Strong desire to work in the Defense or Aerospace Industry
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, (ASME Y14.5 standards)
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Experience with common industry and military specifications and standards
  • Experience generating engineering drawings, product structures (BOM), and reports
  • Experience designing to meet production cost targets (DFMA; DTUPC)

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or a STEM related field obtained within the last 18 months or by Summer 2019. A GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired. Please include your GPA and transcript with your resume.
