Basic Qualifications
The Sr. Human Resources Business Partner position requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, Business Management or a related field, or the equivalent experience. In addition, a minimum of 10 years of Human Resources experience is required or Master's degree and 8 years of related Human Resources experience for a large, global, matrixed organization. Professional Certification (PHR,SPHR) and previous experience supporting a large client base (preferably 500 - 1200+ employees) in developing relationships and virtually supporting locations across the country is preferred. Experience in a government contracting organization is also preferred.
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
This Sr. Human Resources Business Partner will serve as consultant/partner for senior leaders and management teams in our company, with the goal of developing and aligning HR best practices to business strategies and creating a performance-based culture that improves business outcomes. This is a lead role, shaping and influencing business strategy as relates to human capital, talent development, employee engagement, and change management. Past experience will ideally include organizational effectiveness, talent acquisition and retention, employee development & talent management, recognition & rewards, and workforce-engagement-related initiatives. The successful candidate will have prior experience supporting a business and bring a familiarity with compensation and benefits as well as global mobility subject matter expertise and coaching to all levels of management.

Key Responsibilities:
Works with clients to plan, organize, direct, implement and evaluate/measure HR initiatives as outlined in the overall GDMS HR strategy
Serves as the HR expert and account manager for the business segment or functions
Coordinates and brokers HR services to meet specific business needs
Leads the HR programs and processes within the business
Assesses HR implications of the business strategy; identifies opportunities to further meet business needs; and designs solutions
Responsible for collaborating on organizational designs to strengthen and supports business strategy and produces improved business results
Collaborates with HR COEs and line leaders to develop and execute HR programs and processes that support specific business objectives
Assists in developing change management strategies to support implementation of HR programs and initiatives
Works closely with senior leaders and managers to provide expertise and hands on support in multiple areas including: workforce planning, employee retention/relations/engagement, management coaching, performance management and change management
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships and increase engagement and retention
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert for their business areas on the following core HR activities:
Manages, recommends and implements remedies on employee relations issues (to include overseeing thorough and objective investigations, assessing risk, and determining appropriate course of action)
Provides performance management guidance to line managers for coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions
Acts as point-of-contact and advisor on compensation actions, including individual promotions, equity adjustments and related actions
Tracks and analyzes stats on employee suspensions, terminations, and voluntary separations for assigned contracts
Recommends action based on this analysis

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Tremendous experience in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, policy administration, and employee training/development
Tremendous experience managing the administration, progress and maintenance for human resource functions for one or more of the following: employee relations, compensation and performance management, benefits, payroll, staff development/training, organizational development, and recruiting
Tremendous experience working with senior managers to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives
Impeccable judgment and professional maturity
Excellent ability to advise on sensitive issues
High comfort level in ambiguous situations
Outstanding ability to learn quickly and exercise judgment in situations where data may be elusive
Outstanding communication, listening skills, and change leadership skills: verbal, written, counseling, negotiation, facilitation, and presentation skills for both internal and external audiences
Expert business and analytical skills
Impeccable judgment, initiative and the ability to work in a fast paced environment
Outstanding ability to prioritize workload, manage products and handle multiple responsibilities while meeting strict deadlines
The capacity to work with people at all levels
In some instances this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees
Responsibility for managing people, including performance evaluations and pay increases recommendation
May require a security clearance
Travel May be required up to 40%
