SAIC is looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to support our team at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA on the Langley IT Enhances Services (LITES) II contract.

Job Description:

Primary responsibilities include managing the work on individual subtask orders which includes: - Provide IT Project Management (PM) support for a variety of IT projects including both Data Science and business applications project support.

Proactively understand the organization’s needs and provide support to ensure successful project planning and execution

-
Provide oversight of the software development lifecycle and processes

-
Provide enhanced project management support for NASA Langley’s Data Science and Transformation teams to include, but not limited to, providing interpretation of NASA’s Life Cycle Review Procedural Requirements, NPR 7120.7, creating project documentation, reviewing and analyzing documentation, preparing reports, supporting various reviews and decision points, project tracking and scheduling, and portfolio management

Provide agile and light project management support to help coordinate and synchronize multiple projects for the LaRC Data Science Team and center autonomy planning effort. This will include documenting high level customer requirements, working with leads and workers to coordinate project execution at milestone level, and tracking project actual progress vs. plans

Create project documentation, reviewing and analyzing documentation, preparing reports, supporting various reviews and decision points, project tracking and scheduling, and portfolio management

-
Provide and populate standardized project templates and matrices for development of presentations and communications that present project management status. Focus should also include recommendations on content

-
Create and maintain one high level project plan for each project, usually with ten or less steps / milestones per project; leverage modern agile project board software available to the team

-
Contribute to data science team strategic plans suitable for briefing to senior leadership

-
Maintain a team information space with relevant project management, strategy, and marketing materials, leveraging the team’s pre-existing web spaces on an as-needed basis

-
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members.

Assist core LaRC transformation leadership, to include SES leadership, with project management and portfolio management of the emergent LaRC Transformation initiative

-
Provide project portfolio management utilizing automated tools

-
Provide recommendations to continuously improve processes and tools

-
Develop and maintain an integrated master schedule to track all incoming and current projects and their supporting activities, as well as, high level milestones

Manage customer and management expectations and communicate effectively to both

Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and six (6) years or more of related experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.

Required Education & Experience:

-
B.S./B.A. in Computer Science, or Information Systems or relevant field

-
6+ years of related IT project management experience with a strong fundamental understanding of project management principles and practices

-
Proven understanding of Data Science and Analytics concepts and methodologies

-
Proven experience of project management processes, development lifecycle methodologies such as ITIL, across complex technology initiatives

-
Solid collaboration, communication and business relationship skills with customers, management peers, and team members

-
Experience developing documentation such a presentations, project reviews, requirements documents, and schedules

-
Ability to solve both project management and technical challenges

-
Motivated, self-directed, results oriented

-
Strong planning and organization skills as role will communicate with varying levels of team members across business stakeholders, technology and management

-
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and motivate others with an outgoing approach communications approach and manage and collaborate with team members

Experience successfully managing multiple concurrent tasks and priorities

Experience managing project scope, schedule (using MS Project) and budget

Sound technical background - Risk analysis and management experience

Experience leading a technical Change Management Board

Full understanding of the software development process including requirements definition and documentation, analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planning Strong written, presentation, and facilitation skills

Serve as a Change Agent for new technical solutions

Desired Qualifications:

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Familiarity with NASA and the NPR 7120.7
