Job Description:
Join a team whose passion is to make the world a safer place. Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is an innovator and provider of the Radar Systems which enable the war fighter’s edge. The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) Center is seeking a talented engineer to join the Secure Systems Department as a Systems Security Intern. This department provides a wide range System Security Engineering services and products to its customers. This position is within a technical growth area: we are looking for individuals willing to apply their systems engineering knowledge to the system security engineering or program protection disciplines of anti-tamper, cyber security, software assurance, supply chain exploitation, and threat and design vulnerability analysis.

The candidate will develop technical solutions specific to technical problems that require the application of basic systems engineering principles and concepts. The candidate will interact with supervision, project leads and other section personnel in performing assigned tasks. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with an education in Engineering (Systems, Software, Hardware, Cyber, and/or Embedded systems).

These activities include:

  • Applying System Engineering principles to programs, especially in the domains of Program Protection
  • Managing System Security Requirements Development and Verification for new development and deployed systems
  • Performing requirements analysis to ensure that requirements are complete and traceable in a requirements management system, such as DOORS
  • Creating System Engineering documents
  • Interfacing with their team lead, team members, and other teams (SW and HW) on a daily basis; occasionally interfacing with external organizations and customers
  • Providing task progress status updates and work products to the team lead

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

  • G04 (College Junior by Fall 2019) - must have completed 60 hours of college
  • G05 (College Senior by Fall 2019) - must have completed 90 hours of college
  • NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2019) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of system engineering principles, standards, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2019.
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of system security and cyber security principles
  • Familiarity with network architectures
  • Familiarity with C, C++, Ada
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Required Education (including major): Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2019. Must be working towards a degree in software engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, cyber engineering, or systems engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
