About the role

We are seeking applications from experienced and enthusiastic learning and development professionals looking to further their technical training development career with the MSTS Team, in a Defence environment. This role is offered on a full-time permanent basis and will be located in Randwick, Sydney.

Interested in supporting the Royal Australian Navy's Hobart Class, Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG) platforms as a trainer/instructor?

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to:

Facilitate platform-specific mechanical or electrical training using a blend of traditional and contemporary methods including advanced simulations

Provide innovative training development ideas to contribute to improvements in training outcomes

Review, analyse, design and develop new and existing training materials in support of overall project success

Work effectively with others and under time constraints

Contribute to scheduling and resource allocation

Liaise effectively with Clients and Subject Matter Experts to achieve project objectives

Conduct quality assurance review of training deliverables

Assist in the development of skills and capability within the team.

To be successful, you will be an Australian Citizen who currently holds or has the ability to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance, as well as:

years experience in a mechanical or electrical related technical field

Cert III (min) in trade qualification

Experience working in the maritime industry (beneficial)

Experience as a trainer / instructor / facilitator

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110 or newer)

Experience in using modern simulation systems and advanced training aid technology, such as eLearning

Experience in contemporary learning and development contexts, including use of Learning Management Systems (preferred)

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Experience in training in a Defence environment (preferred)
