    Job Description:
    This position is responsible for the total technical leadership of a team responsible for developing and fielding a highly complex state of the art ultra-high frequency multi-function radar system that supports troops in the field, naval ships, and military/commercial air traffic management. Additionally, this role will represent the interests of the MFRFS product line including how various multi-mission needs map across the MFRFS products. This position will also include conducting performance trades and analyses with an emphasis on mission space performance. This includes a strong knowledge of radar hardware including the design of Electronically Steered Antennas and Digital Receiver Exciters. Finally, the Development Chief Engineer will define product line common product architectures and support design verification planning of the various radar designs for the MFRFS product line

    Responsibilities will include:
    • The MFRFS Development Chief Engineer works with program leadership, engineering leadership and the MFRFS product customers to plan and implement product hardware and software development. The MFRFS Development Chief Engineer is a direct interface to the customer driving new business areas and ensuring MFRFS products are implemented on time and within the customer's proposed schedule. The MFRFS Development Chief Engineer also develops radar product roadmaps and supports the development of new radar system architectures.
    • This position is required to interface directly with the customer to guide the requirements and financial results of the MFRFS Products area. This includes managing end to end radar systems architecture, tactical software, production and test engineering, development integration and test, radar modes development, and firmware development for > five radar products within the MFRFS Products area. In addition, this position interfaces with Program Leadership and Engineering Functional Leadership at the Director level and above.
    • The Chief Engineer is responsible for interpreting the priorities of the product line program managers and directing the team to best meet those priorities. This includes understanding difficult to complex issues that may arise with the Army and other customers and developing solutions to solve these complex issues. This includes management of other stakeholders to ensure overall product line success. The Chief Engineer is responsible for communicating the state of MFRFS product development, sustainment, and test activities to the customer and other major external stakeholders and partners. The Chief Engineer is responsible for developing >90 engineers that span the Hardware, Software and Systems Engineering Directorates. The Chief Engineer develops processes and trains/develops engineers within the MFRFS Product Line. In addition, the Chief Engineer works with engineering management to provide feedback to functional supervisors about employee performance.

    This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
    Required Skills:

    • U.S. Citizenship is requiredActive/Current Secret US Security Clearance.
    • 12+ years of professional experience with 5 years of demonstrated Radar Systems experience
    • Strong technical leadership skills working with HW and SW design engineers.
    • Experience leading direct or indirect teams of 30+ engineers
    • Broad technical background and experience in developing and manufacturing radar systems.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

    Desired Skills:
    • 20 years+ subject area professional experience
    • Requires advanced knowledge of radar software development, hardware development and design processes in order to convey those processes and ensure successful implementation.
    • Subject Matter Expect in RF systems development including optimization of Antenna size, transmit power, tracker processing, electronically steered antennas, digital receiver design, surveillance and fire control concepts of operations.
    • Subject Matter Expert in RF performance analysis, system, to subsystem, to component level performance requirement allocation and trade study development
    • Technical expertise in the areas of analog to digital conversion and waveform signal processing including digital pulse compression and matched filtering using Fast Fourier Transforms
    • Strong understanding of industry technologies and capabilities within Business Area
    • Comprehensive planning skills for both short-term requirements and long-term opportunities
    • Knowledge, ability and experience with Raytheon Six Sigma, Integrated Product Team deployment, IPDS, and Raytheon Policies
    • Experience in the design of transmit receive integrated microcircuit modules and digital receiver/exciter circuit card assemblies.
    • Experience with mathematical simulation development (e.g. Matlab, Mathematica, or simulation programming skills).
    • Good judgment and decision-making skills
    • Ability to think strategically and put together short and long term plans for acquisition, development, integration, and deployment of technologies in support of business pursuits
    • Outstanding communication, organization, and problem solving skills
    • Ability to achieve results and effectiveness over multiple pursuits considered to be of significant importance to the Business Area’s long-term success
    • Ability to obtain Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance
