Job Description
The Director of SAS Operations Finance position will be responsible for the financial activities supporting the VP of SAS Operations to include financial planning, reporting, budgets and rates management as well as responsible for manufacturing financial program supports for both inter, intra and external programs. This will include leading a department of ~80 professionals across multiple SAS manufacturing sites in the execution of operations finance with estimated revenues (internal & external) of ~$800M as well as operational activities to include facility, real estate and capital planning. This position will partner with functional leadership in supporting Operations financial execution and maintenance. Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

  • Interacts with managers, directors and VPs across SAS on financial matters regarding production, facilities and capital activities and actions necessary to meet business objectives.
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of financial plans and forecast for operations using actual performance, historical data, estimated cost and other data to control funds and provide proper financial administration.
  • Responsible for the preparation of financials plans, monitoring the implementation of budget policy, preparing regular and special purpose reports, maintaining historical records, analyzing trends, establishing cost rates and forecasts.
  • Responsible for interrupting budgetary policies and procedures and prepares comparative evaluation of actual costs against budget and determines rationale for variances
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies including Sarbanes/Oxley and EVMS/EAC requirements
  • Responsible for directing activities to meet critical deadlines with accurate and auditable data
  • Responsible for hiring, developing and managing a staff of professionals. This includes partnering with other functions and businesses to achieve such results.
  • Establishes, interprets, and recommends modifications to operating policies and procedures that improve the business financial position.
  • Ensures adequate financial controls that provide a balance between finance goals and operation’s goals.

Required Skills:
  • 14+ years of experience in financial areas to include budgets & rates, financial planning and reporting and/or accounting
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to include executive level interaction
  • Results and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, creative, and innovative and use critical and strategic thinking
  • Sound analytical, problem identification, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and achieve results
  • Experience with government contracting
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and lead teams to success
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and build rapport with all organizations and functions.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to meet multiple commitments as expected
  • Demonstrates ability to develop organization and top talent
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP accounting and manufacturing system tools
  • At least 10 years’ experience with EACs and Earned Value Management
  • Front end of the business/competitive proposal experience
  • Risk and Opportunity analysis skills
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills
  • Proficiency in APEX and PRISM Earned Value and Financial Planning, EDIT/EDIT+, SAS ETC Tool, and other related program execution tools
  • Strong ability to coordinate and build rapport with all disciplines: Program Management, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Mission Assurance, and Human Resources
  • Top Secret security clearance

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
