An exciting opportunity is now available for a Combat Systems (CS) Senior Maintenance Manager (SMM) to join our Shipbuilding team at Techport. The CS SMM holds responsibility and authority for matters relating to the implementation, maintenance, improvement and review of the Maintenance Management System (MMS) applicable to the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) CS.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all maintenance, ensuring compliance with the approved MMS whilst ensuring that maintenance activities are correctly conducted, certified and recorded
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are authorised to perform maintenance activities based on the evaluation of qualifications, experience and the prescribed employment standard
  • Authorise internally developed technical reports; advise as soon as practicable of significant issues impacting safety, personnel, equipment and technical compliance
  • Advise the Technical Regulator organisation of changes which affect the Approved Maintenance Organisation’s certification or other customer provided maintenance authorisations

Skills Experience and Qualifications

  • Must understand the technology that is the basis for the system, its interfaces, alignment, and performance tolerances to ensure smooth and comprehensive installation, Set to Work (STW) and test of functionality
  • Provide concise and accurate technical reporting on maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and to maintain performance against the agreed KPIs and Operational Performance Measures (OPM's) and must have experience in Maintenance scheduling and de-confliction against dynamic training schedules
  • Advanced diploma in an electrical or electronics engineering or relevant discipline
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience working within a defence, engineering environment or suitable test and activation experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Force security clearance at the Negative Vetting 1
