Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense top secret security clearance is required within 24 months of time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a HPC Network Performance Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
General Dynamics Mission Systems GDMSS) has an immediate opening for aHPCC Network Performance Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. GDMSS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The HPC Network Performance Engineer will improve performance of data analytic frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark and others on HPC systems. Responsibilities include investigating HPC data analytic framework performance bottlenecks, modifying open source software to take advantage of HPC capabilities, tweaking software and system configuration to optimize performance, and evaluating performance of new software libraries and frameworks.
Related responsibilities will include managing code migration from primary unclassified development environments to classified operational settings. The individual will work on a small agile team, performing primary development in an unclassified environment but doing primary customer support in a classified environment.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Basic skills and experience:
3-5 years InfiniBand IBverbs development experience
Java, C++ or other object oriented language development experience
Basic system administration knowledge of Linux
Experience isolating and eliminating performance bottlenecks
Agile development methodologies
Good communication skills
Preferred skills and experience:
Experience using Docker to build and deploy software using orchestration tools such as Docker Swarm or Kubernetes
Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or SaltStack
Experience using data analytic frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark
Experience with tool suites supporting agile CI/CD workflows, such as GitLab, Jenkins or the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket, Crucible)
