Product Development Technician Mechanical Components
Job Description
Salary non-exempt employee responsible for the manufacture, fabrication, and installation of manufacturing and developmental hardware for mechanical systems, units, control devices, trailers and associated equipment. Candidate must be able determine methods, sequence of operations, lay out, fabricate, assemble, test, troubleshoot, self-inspect, and perform repairs on developmental and production devices, units, sub-systems, systems and associated equipment.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Works from preliminary design drawings, sketches, and schematics as well as oral and written instructions.
  • Determines sequence of operations to fabricate, assemble, and troubleshoot mechanical manufacturing and development systems, sub-systems, units, control devices and associated equipment as specified by Manufacturing Engineers and Responsible Engineering Authorities.
  • May use had and power tools and equipment as necessary in order to perform above duties
  • Performs rework and repair of the same nature and level of difficulty as described.
  • Performs incidental related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education:



  • 5+ years relevant experience in manufacturing, fabrication or similar discipline to include military experience
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing processes.
  • High School Diploma
  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Understanding of basic electronic and/or mechanical assembly.

Desired Skills and Education:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics or equivalent (Manufacturing, Operations, Industrial Engineering)
  • Trade school or technician certificate
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain J-STD Soldering Cert..
  • Experience with high-voltage pulsed power systems and ability to work safely around high voltage
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Demonstrated capability to perform a broad, diverse range of technical tasks and/or very specific technical tasks in the engineering disciplines
  • Ability to provide hands on technical support during research and development phases through demonstration tests
  • Capable of receiving detailed instructions and expressing technical concepts clearly
  • Ability to work with large and small teams, depending on circumstances
  • Ability to work with lifting fixtures and forklifts
  • Ability to work with hand tools such as drills, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, etc.
