Job Description:
The Sr. Production and Planning Control individual will perform a variety of technical and business tasks in support of production programs. This senior level planning individual will manage multiple assemblies and the associated tasks listed below are necessary in order to prevent a work stoppage or a slip in schedule, both of which would have a significant impact to the program’s cost and schedule requirements. Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

This position is a dual grade requisition; Salary Grade G08 or Salary Grade G09 based on the applicant's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibility requirements for the position.

  • The individual will review, plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules and changes associated with his/her assemblies. Insufficient planning on the part of this individual could have a negative impact on the program meeting financial and schedule requirements.
  • Evaluates and coordinates material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production/customer requirements
  • Responsible to evaluate and status the assemblies that are in progress, material availability, and potential production problems. Insufficient evaluation on the part of this individual could impact the work being performed and possibly cause a work stoppage
  • As this is a senior level planner, will be looked to for providing support on processes and policies to other junior level planners
  • Solves any potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed
  • Control and analysis of multiple and highly complex bill of materials in an MRP system
  • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply demand, and prepares necessary work orders based on shop load and inventory requirements
  • Management of end item deliverables based on the master production schedule
  • In order to ensure appropriate stakeholder assurance, this individual will be responsible to coordinate interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, and logistics
  • Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers, and requests for shipping orders
  • Responsible for the material tracking from purchase order release to the receipt of the material
  • Propose solutions to mitigate any work stoppage the factory teams may experience due to any slips in material orders
  • Interface with internal and external customers
  • Authorizes factory work via assembly work orders and follows that through to completion
  • Based on the individual’s detailed inventory analysis, the individual will prepare purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts
  • This senior level individual will also provide guidance to other planners on inventory analysis

Required Skills:
  • 4 years of related experience
  • Application of concepts and principles of Production and Planning Control fundamentals to include:
    • MRP
    • Inventory Management
    • Capacity Planning
    • Finite Scheduling
    • JIT Concepts
    • Master Production Scheduling
  • Propose solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Critical thinking and analysis skills to ensure detailed status provided to the Value Stream Manager and team
  • Contribute to the completion of organizational projects and goals
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel and Word
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate with various disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast –paced work environment

Desired Skills:
  • 6 years of related experience
  • Familiarity with SAP systems
  • Working knowledge of MS PowerPoint
Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor's Degree. Majors may include but are not limited to the following:
    • Business Administration
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Operations Management
  • Eight (8) years of creditable professional experience fully meeting requirements listed above will be considered in lieu of bachelors degree completion.
