JOB DESCRIPTION: SAIC is seeking a RedHat Linux System Administrator.
This role is supporting the US Army Cyber Command in Centreville, Virginia. The US Army Cyber Command operates and defends Army networks and delivers cyberspace effects against adversaries to defend the nation.
Specific job duties include:
  • RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 system administration.
  • Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis. This includes troubleshooting any and all issues with system configurations, backups, files systems, and user access.
  • Administering virtualized server environments with VMware vSphere/ESXi
  • Hardening servers and applications to DISA standards and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans and documenting variances from the guidelines when needed.
  • Hardening infrastructure resources in compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
  • Monitoring infrastructure availability and performance.
  • Automating system patch availability, configuration management, and compliance auditing using Red Hat Satellite server, Ansible, Puppet, and/or other automated CM products.
  • Creating documentation on current processes and newly engineered solutions.


Required Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Required Clearance:
  • Must possess current TS/SCI security clearance.
Required Certifications:
  • One of the following:
    • Security+ CE
    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
    • Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP)
    • System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
  • And one of the following:
    • Red Hat Certified Datacenter Specialist (RHCDS)
    • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
    • Red Hat Certified Data Center Specialist. (RHCDS)
Additional Qualities desired include:
  • Experience administering virtualized server environments including Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) and VMware vSphere/ESXi
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and ITIL Certification
  • Experience with the IAVM process
  • Experience writing and managing scripts and utilities to automate day to day systems administration and configuration management tasks.
  • Functional working knowledge in these areas: MTP, HTTP, LDAP, Kerberos, NFS, DNS, DHCP, HTTP proxy, and SMB.
  • Ability to do bash scripting
  • Ability to use Ansible and Git.
  • Basic networking knowledge and hands on, including DNS and Web Service configuration
  • Understanding of Agile Software development processes.
