Job Description: The Value Stream Lead (VSL) is responsible for all manufacturing related activities within a production or depot manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Site Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of the manufacturing technicians within one shift. The VSL will be tasked to define clear operational schedules, priorities, goals, and collaborate with functional management to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally the VSL will have accountability for manufacturing and development deliveries. This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in a manufacturing leadership role. The Value StreamLead is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Manage and lead up to 35 touch personnel (Will evaluate employees on a daily basis and document performance annually)
Coordinate on-boarding - Communicate security, safety, reporting location, policies/procedures, training
Timecard / Attendance Management
Factory Leadership interface and interactions with manufacturing and support personnel
Cost / Quality / Schedule performance
Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow
Prioritizes project issues and assists in the resolutions process to meet productivity, quality, and organizational goals and contractual delivery requirements
Provide the required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure all employees work in a safe working environment
Ensure compliance to all pertinent operating procedures and work instructions
Daily coordination and facilitation of Tier I/II Meetings
Support Tier III meetings as required
Maintain SME Lists
Qualification Training (compliance / accuracy)
QT/certification tracking and management
Schedule classes for manufacturing competency development
Cross Training Plan for manufacturing technicians
Responsible for assigning escorts as required
Experience with Manufacturing support
Experience with shop floor management
Experience with team facilitation
Security clearance is required, the candidate must be able to obtain or currently hold a DoD Secret clearance.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree or related experience.
Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
Knowledge of MTE practices and instructions
Knowledge of Quality practices and instructions
Superior communication skills
Experience in manufacturing line balancing
Lean manufacturing application
Ability to develop solutions to problems of moderate scope and complexity
Understanding of sequencing for fabrication, assembly, installation, testing and other manufacturing operations relation to specific portion of the product.
Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills
