The Power and Electronics Systems Department within Raytheon IDS is hiring a Senior Principal Engineer in the field of FPGA design, specifically concentrating in the area of digital signal processing, high-level synthesis and adaptive beam forming. The engineer may perform or support requirements specification, digital design, simulation, design validation and system integration testing. The candidate should also have successfully implemented designs in fielded systems, and constructed test and integration plans. The candidate must have a proven track record of meeting system requirements, schedule deadlines, and project budgets. Responsibilities will require working within a team of engineers in developing designs based on modeling and simulations. The candidate should expect to work with Systems Engineers and other development team members in translating system performance and operational specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications. The relevant digital electronic system designs include signal processing, command and control, communications, and user interfaces for military applications.

Applicant will work as part of a highly motivated team environment, and will be collaborating with cross-functional project teams making up a larger program or internal research and development efforts. Our engineers are assigned to a manager of approximately 20 employees with similar skills. Each section manager is responsible for their members’ performance, career development, and assigning tasks that balance the employees’ interests with current needs of the project teams.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance; US Citizenship is required
  • 12+ years’ experience in FPGA development / verification using VHDL/System Verilog/ OVM
  • 10+ years’ experience implementing DSP algorithms in FPGAs
  • Familiarity implementing adaptive beam forming algorithms in FPGAs

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Experience modeling and simulating using Mentor Graphics System Vision, PSPICE, MATLAB/Simulink
