The Whole Life Systems Engineering (WLSE) is responsible for ensuring Raytheon products are safe, reliable, maintainable, and are under configuration control. WLSE consists of multiple disciplines that support Engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLSE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. We are focused in two main areas - Product Support and Technical Data Support. In the Product Support area, the disciplines are: System Safety, Reliability and Supportability. On the Technical Data side, the main disciplines are Configuration Management and Data Management. WLSE also provides program office and engineering support in the areas of earned value, engineering check and product verification as well as operational aspects of mission support such as field and technical support, repairs and spares management and Program Management support.

We are seeking a Consulting Configuration Analyst to support Raytheon Programs in our Albuquerque, NM facility. The candidate will be responsible for the supervision of Configuration Managers, Data Managers and Technical Writers in addition to providing high level Configuration Analyst skills. Activities include management of Configuration Managers, Data Managers and Technical Writers to meet program objectives and frequent interaction and coordination with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, scientists, external customers, and a wide variety of support staff.

The candidate will be responsible for mitigating daily challenges with limited oversight from functional leadership, program leadership, and internal/external customers. The candidate will participate in determining objectives of assignments, plans, schedules and will arrange their own activities in accomplishing objectives. As part of this activity, the Consulting Configuration Analyst will use a systems thinking approach, drawing from prior experience while performing detailed analysis of issues in developing solutions to a variety of complex problems.

The candidate must have a proven track record of solving difficult and complex problems, have a complete knowledge and understanding of Government, Customer, and Raytheon configuration management practices and standards; must be able to work under limited general supervision, with minimal guidance and direction on making process improvements to enhance the performance of Configuration Management.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct Hardware and Software Configuration Management, Data Management and Technical Writer personnel to achieve program goals
  • Constant communication and collaboration with internal organizations including Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, Facilities, Program Office as well as external organizations to include customer and suppliers
  • Support and participate in team meetings, design reviews, engineering review boards
  • Coordinate with team leadership (program management, chief engineer, sub-team leads) to execute program goals
  • Lead the coordination and administration of assigned configuration management activities relative to planning, identification, control, verification and accounting for systems and equipment in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Establish procedures for and implement the introduction of changes to engineering documents for an assigned program and represents the functional group in the implementation of common processes
  • Review and analyze released engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities
  • Ensures that customer and internal configuration management requirements are implemented and support change and status accounting activities to ensure compliance with configuration management policies
  • Establish and control configuration identification processes and baselines
  • Provide configuration management guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area
  • Use innovative approach in making moderate to significant process improvements to enhance configuration management performance

Required Skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Must have a deep knowledge and understanding of configuration management principles and take an analytical approach to solving complex configuration challenges using Raytheon configuration management policies, procedures and tools (i.e. IPDS, Directives, CABS, PDM, PRISM)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate with various disciplines to ensure data integrity and compliance with configuration management policies
  • Possess the necessary people skills to work effectively with all levels of management and peers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to develop and present technical briefings to Leadership
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to influence parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding configuration management policies, procedures, and practices
  • Ability to identify potential complex problems associated with technical engineering data, regarding configuration management issues, and take corrective action as needed
  • Ability to problem solve and identify impact to other organizations
  • Ability to make moderate or significant improvements of processes to enhance configuration management performance
  • Proficiency with MSOffice (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with a Product Data Management (PDM) tool

Desired Skills and Education
  • Good understanding of technology and computing tools (Product Data Management or PDM tools, SAP or similar)
  • Solid competency in project planning

Required Education (including Major):
  • Related University Degree and a minimum of eight years of related experience.

Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense SECRET clearance; existing clearance preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date
