Systems Validation, Test and Analysis Directorate (SVTAD) is the central focus for all integration, verification and validation (IV&V) activities within IDS. Over 700 employees of SVTAD provide their expertise to ensure customer success through the development and execution of innovative and comprehensive IV&V strategies, processes, tools and techniques. SVTAD employees are involved in all aspects of IV&V including: design-for-test, integration, subsystem and component level testing through sell-off of IDS ’ most sophisticated systems and technologies.

Opportunities currently exist within SVTAD's Air Defense Systems Department in Andover, Massachusetts. The Air Defense Systems Department (ADS) provides expertise in the integration, validation, and sell off for various air defense programs within IDS. ADS Engineers are involved in all aspects of the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) cycle. ADS engineers have ownership authority to ensure that individual items are integrated and perform as expected as well as ensuring that the system can be sold off. Most system tests will be conducted in the ADS Department’s HWIL facilities. These facilities include integrated tactical hardware, simulated, and emulated software for data collection to verify the systems capabilities and support the ultimate sell off of the System. ADS supports the PATRIOT and NASAMS family of programs.

Job Description:

The SVTAD ADS department is in need of an experienced Senior Technical Support Engineer in support of activities for the family of Patriot programs for development and fielded Patriot equipment. The ME Logistics Support/DAM Lead has direct responsibility for ensuring that the DAM procedures for the Patriot system are fully functional and up to date for each new software build that is released. This includes all states and modes including preventive & corrective maintenance, trouble-shooting, and repair of the Patriot Major End Items. Schedules and plans for installation of Change Requests/Change Notices, interfacing as needed with engineering and site personnel to ensure success and providing technical support for configuration management of hardware and software. Monitors, develops, and delivers advanced training to site personnel for maintenance activities as required. Documents and posts all maintenance related Field Bulletins. These activities will be performed in both a laboratory and field environment.

Must be a highly motivated “self-starter” and possess strong technical skills, verbal, presentation and written communication skills. Individual must be capable of working well within multifaceted teams or at times independently. Travel to customer sites to support field related issues and to execute test events is required.

Required Skills:

  • 6 years of Patriot experience in Diagnostic software, fault insertion, remove and replace and adjustment procedures.
  • Experience instructing on the operation and maintenance of the Patriot Radar System.
  • Experience in test planning, strategy, and procedure development.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic Software Investigation Request (DSIR).
  • Understanding of Logistics and Logistics Databases.
  • Knowledge and understanding of PDM
  • Active DOD Secret security clearance, or obtain a Secret clearance within 30 days.
Desired Skills:
  • Ability to act with a reasonable degree of independence and to work across multiple engineering and program disciplines
  • Patriot System Experience, operational and troubleshooting experience across multiple system configurations including Configurations 3, and 3+
  • Knowledge and experience in the safety procedures for Patriot Radar Operation
  • Knowledge and Experience with development and/or documentation of Department of the Army Modification Work Orders (DAMWOs)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer test environment, internal and external, domestic and international
  • Certified Six Sigma Specialist
  • Proven multitasking skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in past work performance
  • Working knowledge of the UNIX system and coding
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access
  • Working knowledge or experience with Radar Systems
Required Education (including Major):
  • BS degree in related field OR an Associate’s degree in a technical field with 12 years relevant experience OR at least 14 years directly related Patriot experience.
