Systems Engineer to provide integration and test engineering support for the Systems Architecture, Design and Integration Directorate (SADID) at Schriever AFB, CO. The Systems Engineer will work with a team of engineers and analysts on the development, test and integration of a suite of sensor models used for element and system level analysis and verification and validation. The Systems Engineer will provide test and integration support for BMDS events including performance assessments, exercises, wargames, element software development/testing, system development, risk reduction, ground/flight tests and mission planning. The Systems Engineer will become an expert in sensor software configuration and setup, and may support remote installation of the models as well as support related test issues (some travel may be required). The Systems Engineer will help develop and support sensor model regression testing plans, as well as automated behavior validation. The Systems Engineer will develop and use test processes and tools, test software for modeling and simulation products, particularly with an emphasis on system-level testing, and evaluate code performance. Primary duties also include developing testing strategies, writing Test Plans and Reports, and managing code configurations. This position requires configuring complex tests, reporting and tracking problems, and working with developers to resolve problems.

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years experience in system/software test and integration.
    - Familiarity with distributed computing systems and/or real-time computing/messaging systems.
    - Familiarity with Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux operating systems.
    - Experience with Software Baseline Control Management processes/procedures.
    - Ability to work at a government facility within a multi-contractor team environment.
    - Strong verbal/written communication skills.
    - Active Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:

  • Experience with high-level coding languages and scripting/interpreted languages, such as C/C++, Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, HTML, Python, Perl, Shell Script, bash, and awk.
    - Familiarity with MatLab, Nagios, ClearQuest, ClearCase, Oracle, MySQL, and SharePoint, or related applications.
    - Familiarity with software CM processes and experience in a development environment is strongly desired.
    - Experience in complex system assessment/analysis; with exceptional attention to detail.
    - Knowledge of system architectures, networks, and operations.
    - Experience in engineering M&S systems using an optimistic discrete event simulation platform
    - Experience with risk management, issue resolution, problem solving and customer service.
    - Missile defense domain knowledge
    - Familiarity with the Objective Simulation Framework (OSF) and Modeling and Simulation Web Services (MWS)
Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 6 years with MS/MA in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 4 years with PhD in Engineering, in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
