If you answered yes to those questions you may be who we are looking for. Raytheon Missile Systems is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to develop technical documentation using Extensible Markup Language (XML) for technical publications and IETMs.

Job Description:
As a Technical Writer/Editor and important member of a customer driven team, you must be able to interpret engineering drawings and mark-ups for use in the development of maintenance and repair procedures. You will be expected to prepare structured documentation aligned with customer provided standards, participate in customer reviews, validations and/or verifications, and be willing to travel (10%). You must be a self-starter, team orientated, and able to interact with other team members as well as engineering and logistics specialists to prepare technical publications and work to deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have strong influential communication skills, with the ability to develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity that require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation. This candidate will have strong values and behavior skills oriented toward working with teams and setting examples of valued behaviors. This position requires strong English language grammar skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to assist with the development and sustainment of technical manual products for the Land-based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS) for an ARMY customer. Documents are developed in accordance with MIL-STD 40051-1B, customer provided instructions, as well as Raytheon policies and processes. This position also requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop assembly/disassembly procedures based on them. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the training of military systems, knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) processes, and knowledge of the LOGSA/ISEA requirements for ILS documents. Overtime may occasionally be required to meet contractual deadlines.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Skills:

  • 4+ years’ of related professional experience working with XML, SGML, or HTML; working with Army IETMs in the Technical Publications arena (includes creating technical manuals in accordance with MIL-STD-40051-1B)
  • Experience working with engineering drawings, blueprints, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and design
  • Existing US Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe

  • Familiarity in developing Technical Publications using MIL-STD-37874 and Demilitarization Procedures IAW MIL-PRF-63033

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
