Job Description: Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services is seeking a Sr. Field Engineer II to perform radar engineering duties at the Mobile Sensors Management Office PAFB, FL and onboard forward deployed ships designed specifically for radar data collection. This position requires several months of remote assignment on board the USNS Howard O Lorenzen TAGM-25 or the USNS Invincible TAGM-24. Duties while on board include mission/track planning, operation, maintenance, and repair of a dual S and X Band phase array radar system and communications equipment. Duties at the MSMO include providing support for software engineering, operation and maintenance of the Software Maintenance Management Facility to include training of customer personnel, as well as development of job hazard analysis, system operation and maintenance procedures, monthly reports, drawings, subcontractor statement of work descriptions, technical evaluations and configuration control change request. This position requires radar operation during tracking and testing while onboard the vessels. Additional collateral duties as assigned. Reports to the Program Manager (PM) and the Ship Operations Manager (SOM).

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of analog and digital circuitry including power supplies, fault detection circuitry, microwave components, and high power transmitters.
  • Ability to operate and maintain the associated communications-electronic equipment, including embedded communications systems, data communications, data processors, desktop computers and ancillary equipment.
  • Ability to comprehend and update electronic schematic drawings and documentation.
  • Experience operating and maintaining transmitters and receivers, including High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Digital Modular Radio (DMR), UHF & Super High Frequency (SHF) Satellite Communications (SATCOM) equipment, and associated antennas.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required including the preparation and presentation of technical reports.
  • Managerial and lead engineering experience
  • Existing DOD final SECRET clearance.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • At least eight years of experience with radar and communication equipment.
  • EKMS/KMI certification and COMSEC experience.
  • NIPRNET/SIPRNET LAN maintenance. Security plus certification.
  • Experience with phased array radars.
  • Experience with Linux based systems such as IBM’s AIX operating system.
  • Experience with C++.
  • Experience in performing data analysis to determine what system, subsystem and components require action to improve radar performance.
  • Knowledge of embedded software design and PLC background.
  • Familiarity in the proper use and care of various electronic test equipment including logic and spectrum analyzers.
  • Network administrator knowledge and experience.
  • Familiarity with US Navy operations security requirements.
  • Quality Assurance training and experience.
  • Good understanding of shipboard safety requirements.


Required Education (including Major):

BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science or
8 years plus of related experience can substitute for education.


Other Requirements:
This position is required to have an existing Secret Security Clearance. This position is partially located on a forward deployed vessel that spends a lot of time at sea. Candidates must not be hindered by motion sickness and must be able to pass a maritime physical. This position does not include a relocation package.
