Position:  833-Enterprise Architect Type:  Full Time Location:  Arlington, Virginia

FTI is currently looking for two Enterprise Architects in Crystal City, Arlington, VA., with a range of experience from journeyman level up to senior EA experience.

Job Duties

Enterprise architecture, in this context, refers to large, distributed, information systems that employ modern networked computational paradigms, with emphasis on cloud. The Enterprise Architect (EA) is responsible for creating the concise set of artifacts necessary to accomplish providing necessary and sufficient information for a qualified third party to build the enterprise information system of interest and qualified independent assessor to effectively test the built enterprise information system of interest. Creating these artifacts requires detailed understanding of systems engineering, software engineering, and enterprise business processes governing the mission of the USAF personnel directorate, and the Defense acquisition system. It requires close, real-time, interaction with operators, engineers, and procurement officials.

Requirements

  • Master: must have served as journeyman on large enterprise system development project that achieved objectives for cost, performance and schedule. Evidence required. Advanced degree in engineering or other technical field preferred.
  • Journeyman must have served as apprentice on large enterprise system development project that achieved objectives for cost, performance and schedule. Evidence required. Degree in engineering or other technical field preferred.
  • Apprentice must verify basic education and/or experience associated with job requirements. Degree in engineering or other technical field preferred.
  • Demonstrated apprentice, journeyman, or master (choose one) expertise in the following standards, tools and techniques:
  • ISO/IEC Standard 42010:2007 Systems and software engineering -- Recommended practice for architectural description of software-intensive systems.
  • EA Frameworks such as Zachman, The Open Group Architectural Framework (TOGAF), DoD Architectural Framework (DODAF), MEGAF, SABSA, etc., as a means to inform design philosophy, not achieve compliance. Nevertheless, must be able to describe architecture according to specified standards such as DODAF.
  • Modelling standards and languages appropriate to software intensive systems such as BPMN, BPML, UML, and SysML and derivatives.
  • Architectural Design Languages such as ABACUS, Acme, ByADL, etc.
  • Systems thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole ("big picture"-thinking)
  • Knowledge of the Defense process and Human Resource Management in general. (Desired. Will be taught if necessary.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering. (Required for master and journeyman.)
  • Knowledge of IT governance and operations. (Required for master and journeyman.)
  • Knowledge of financial modeling as it pertains to IT investment (Required for master.)
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills - servant leadership, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills. (Required for master.)
  • Communication skills, both written and spoken. (Required for master and journeyman.)
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand. (Required for master.)
  • Project and program management planning and organizational skills (Required for master.)
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Excellent skill in time management and prioritization.
