FTI is currently looking for an Additive Manufacturing Systems Engineer supporting SMC in Los Angeles.
Full-time Systems Engineer with special experience in Additive Manufacturing Systems Engineering responsible for applying the principles of Additive Manufacturing across the SMC Enterprise.
Serves as the Additive Manufacturing Subject Matter Expert for SMC/EN and all other SMC Capability Directorates. The Additive Manufacturing Systems Engineer will utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) which will support the necessary layer by layer design framework from which the design can be fabricated rapidly and cost effectively by a 3D printer. The Additive Manufacturing Systems engineer will then utilize the resultant 3D models to conduct risk reduction activities through which alternative designs can be quickly prototyped, tested, and assessed for manufacturability and overall system level effectiveness.
Work with all SMC capability directorates to support center level engineering tasking to include the integration of Additive Manufacturing and 3D modeling in the overall design methodology to support an integrated SMC Systems Engineering approach.
Identify and apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools to support definition and refinement of space architecture artifacts. Identify and implement systems engineering policies, procedures and operating instructions for space and cyberspace systems.
Leverage FTI small business innovation research (SBIR) analysis methods and tools to enhance engineering processes and improve rigor of Course of Action (COA) assessments Leverage FTI SBIR-developed tools to include but not limited to Integrated Cost as an Independent Variable (I-CAIV), Readiness Assessment Engine (RAE), NormNet Prognostic Health Management, Integrated Sensor Analysis Tool (I-SAT), and the Extensible Load-Adaptive Processing Service (ELAPSE).
Support SMC in the definition and refinement of requirements for space systems and the horizontal integration of technical interfaces and issues across SMC 2 letters. Apply MBSE methods and tools to identify and update required architecture views ranging from OV, SV and TV’s. Support COA assessment to resolve requirement and implementation issues; leverage the FTI I-CAIV tool to facilitate performance, cost, risk and schedule trade-offs. Support readiness assessments across the space system lifecycle to ensure developing technology aligns with desired maturity at key milestone reviews. Leverage the FTI RAE methodology to automate the assessment process. Identify and track key systems engineering and architecture metrics during development, test and fielding of space systems. Leverage the FTI MPAE methodology to automate the tracking and trending of metrics.
