Position:  807-Requirements Analyst Type:  Full Time Location:  Chesapeake, Virginia

Frontier Technology, Inc. (FTI) is seeking a full-time Requirements Analyst to join our team of qualified, talented, and diverse individuals. Primary work location is in Chesapeake, VA in support of a customer based in Port Hueneme, CA.


Under minimal supervision, assists in developing and defining systems scope, objectives, and requirements in support of the Navy’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution efforts integrated with Advanced Radar systems and/or other Combat systems. The Requirements Analyst would define and decompose requirements through research combined with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements. The ability to be adaptable within the Agile framework and to work constructively with a technically diverse team is crucial. 


The candidate will be responsible for the following tasks;

  • Interview personnel from Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) functional user community to learn the general purpose of systems and information requirements of positions involved in the data flow.
  • Analyze business and user needs, documents requirements in the form of Systems Requirements Documents (SRD), Systems Design Documents (SRD), and revises existing system logic difficulties.
  • Perform quality assurance duties, such as developing and decomposing use cases into workable requirements and testable scenarios.
  • Track and document changes to functional and business rule specifications, to include material for requirements traceability, manuals, instruction guides, technical documentation, and technical diagrams.
  • Monitor and document post-implementation problems and revision requests.
  • Coordinate with the various teams and with external customers to ensure that technical documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provide technical editing for product deliverables.
  • Research, organize, write, edit, and produce technical reports for software development projects.
  • Ensure technical documentation is accurately defined, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, content, format, and style.
  • Coordinate with the systems engineer to facilitate delivery of customer-defined software development projects, such as the Software Build Plan.
  • Develop process improvement procedures to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Analyze current process standards and metrics in order to provide solutions for improvements.


Undergraduate degree required in an applicable field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Management Systems or a related discipline)


  • 1-3 Years’ experience in same/similar job
  • 2+ years of analysis experience in the Navy/DoD requirements gathering and analysis domain.
  • 2+ years of experience providing Quality Assurance to weapon system software development lifecycle solutions.
  • 2+ years’ experience with the conduct of evaluation studies to demonstrate an understanding of how evaluation results are obtained.


  • Must possess an active government security clearance
  • Must be able to attain DoDI 8570.01-M Compliant IAM or IAT Certification, if required by customer.
  • Proven effectiveness as a team member to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
  • Ability to collaborate with government and OEM Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Align identified tasks and skills to learning objectives which are observable and measurable.
  • Excellent writing, communication, analytical and instructional design skills.
  • Proven effectiveness as a team member to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with cross functional team (i.e. project manager, logisticians, engineers, program analyst).
  • Ability to work independently with geographically dispersed team.
  • Basic understanding of PLM is a plus.
