Senior Principal Electrical Engineer - Microelectronics, Electrical Design Directorate
An opportunity currently exists for a Senior Principal Process Engineering position in the wafer fab of the Microelectronics Engineering and Technology department. The Microelectronics Engineering and Technology (MET) department designs and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, millimeter/microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and modules for defense and commercial applications and is a part of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems.
In this position, the chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting the Raytheon semiconductor foundry in the areas of wafer processing for production support, process development, and new capital qualification in the etch and metals-dielectrics workcenters. He or she will be expected to have an intimate understanding of process interactions with equipment and will be expected to document and communicate all measurement results. The chosen candidate is also expected to work in various areas of wafer fabrication and process development on next generation technologies and problem solving. The candidate is expected to be a subject matter expert in the areas of semiconductor processing.
Responsibilities will include some or all of the following:
- Analyze and bring out best known practices in semiconductor processing and equipment qualifications.
- Qualify new processes to help in yield improvement and improve throughput in the fab
- Support the production and development fab in other ways as needed
- Analyze outcome of design of experiments
- Support the fab by systematically problem-solving fab issues
- Document and effectively communicate all measurements and processing steps
Required Skills & Experience
- Subject Matter expertise in any one of the semiconductor processing areas or equipment
- Desire to work exclusively in a semiconductor clean room environment
- Highly organized
- Skilled at using Design of Experiments
- Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
Desired Skills & Experience
Knowledge of III-V semiconductors, preferably Gallium Arsenide and Gallium Nitride
B.S. degree with 15+ years related working experience or a Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience in science/engineering
Ability to obtain a security clearance is required.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. It is G11 based on experience level.
