JOB DESCRIPTION: Network Administrator
Network Administrator needed to support architectural development for the Modeling and Simulation Branch of the Maneuver Battle Lab at Fort Benning. Qualifications include: a solid technical background in Network Architecture Development and in-depth experience in Network Management; a well- founded understanding in architectural design methodology including the ability to transform Network Architecture into a set of network design requirements. Experience with network modeling, simulation, test bed development, and network deployments. The successful candidate must have strong domain knowledge and experience with network protocols; TCP/IP, UDP, QoS, IPSEC, network management protocols such as SNMP, and policy based network design technologies. The successful candidate must be familiar with related current and projected vendor products of major network equipment providers. Candidate must have hands on experience developing high speed enterprise networks, design of Network Operation Centers, optical network design, and implementation and management of these type networks. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet Secret eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Bachelor’s degree and two years experience or AA/AS degree in computer- related field and 4+ years of experience required.
Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) and either Security+ or A+ Certification.
Position requires in-depth knowledge of Networking and the ability to address problems develop and implement solutions.
Candidates must have ability to communicate technical information in an understanding manner.
Experience or training in integrating switches, routers and networks; troubleshooting skills to allow for diagnosing server and client problems.
Demonstrated knowledge of the following is required:
Network architecture; TCP/IP protocol, OSPF routing, inter VLAN routing, multicast routing, upgrading IOS, and subnetting.
Must possess an active SECRET security clearance
Experience in the following areas highly desired: Linux/Unix; Windows XP Professional; Windows NT system; Windows 2003 system administration.
Understanding of firewall technologies.
Experience and knowledge of BLSCE, OneSAF, IAW Army Regulation 25-2 and DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process and Army tactical networks, including Mission Command Systems.
Some travel may be required.
Install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system.
Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
May monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption.
May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
May supervise computer user support specialists and computer network support specialists.
May administer network security measures.
Must posses the following certifications: (DoDD 8140.01/DOD 8570.01m) Baseline Certification (Network Continuing Education or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Security Continuing Education or Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)), Computing Environment Certifications (CentOS, Windows 10, Windows 2012 Server LynxOs Cisco) and a background investigation.
