Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Strategic and Business Development Manager. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
GDMS is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead a strong and diverse team supporting exploration and business development within the Navy strategic deterrence domain. The candidate will use his/her expertise and understanding of Navy SLBM community, mission operations, strategic systems, contractor industrial base to define business strategies, competitive landscape, and investment needed to bid and win Navy opportunities in 2019 and beyond. The candidate will leverage our GDMS Strategic Mission Systems core competencies in strategic weapon systems and electronics to develop customer and industry relationships, win strategies, and capture plans in support of growth objectives for Maritime and Strategic Systems (M&SS) Line of Business (LoB). The candidate will be responsible for providing oversight to all proposal efforts, execution of new business and independent R&D funds, and ultimately managing one or more CRAD/BAA programs as awarded to GDMS. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all project activities are compliant to contract and GDMS common process requirements, and performed and completed in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner without compromising the quality of the deliverables.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Leads business development activities of products and/or services to government agencies or private firms doing government business
Maintains key business development contacts with current and potential customers
Evaluates and manages new business opportunities, initiatives, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures
Oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs
Serves as capture manager for assigned opportunities
Defines vision, strategies, and tactics for assigned business development opportunities
Assists in the formulation of advertising campaigns and approves publicity releases and promotional activities
Advises higher management on status or action required in connection with existing and potential business development opportunities
Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements
May have budget responsibilities
Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives
Directs the development of short- and long-range objectives and recommends goals to higher management
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent understanding of strategic deterrence mission and its technical and integration challenges
Expertise and understanding of strategic deterrence community mission operations, strategic systems, and contractor industrial base
Strong knowledge of DOD acquisition process and policy
Relevant past experience managing programs, project planning, monitor and controls in accordance with company policies, common processes, and contract terms and conditions.
Expertise in assessing market and opportunity sets, developing business and capture strategies, and leading technical teams to position and win new opportunities.
Development of accurate and complete Bid and Proposals and ROMS that are responsive to customer requests and achieve business objective.
Demonstrated ability to engage and influence across multiple customer organizations in support of engineering, analytical and operational objectives.
Strong communications skills, oral and written, with senior personnel
