Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) team has an exciting opportunity for a Principal System Assurance Engineer to join our growing team. This position serves as the overall System Assurance lead for the Corrosion Prevention Action Team (CPAT).

The Corrosion Prevention Action Team is a longstanding joint effort between Raytheon and our customer. Raytheon efforts are led by IDS Mission Assurance (MA) and report directly to the IDS MA Chief Engineer. The teams’ primary objective is to implement new and novel corrosion mitigation solutions across the spectrum of program and product lifecycles to reduce the overall cost of corrosion on the PATRIOT system.

General Responsibilities:
The CPAT Lead will have total ownership of the CPAT. The CPAT should be viewed as a small business area that is responsible for developing and deploying corrosion mitigation solutions affecting requirements, designs, and sustainment. Sample outputs include the Life Cycle Corrosion Risk Assessment and Management Plan, the Environmental Evaluation tool, various design solutions, and tech manual updates.

These responsibilities include:

  • Provide overall leadership and direction across all Corrosion Prevention Action Team projects and efforts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the external customer, product line leads, and project SMEs through the successful execution of corrosion mitigation activities.
  • Management of development projects. This will involve extensive interface with Materials Engineering. Once a solution has been developed and qualified, it will need to be deployed to the Product Line. While the Product Line is ultimately responsible for the deployment of CPAT solutions, the lead must coordinate the handoff.
  • Coordinate, manage, and host the quarterly CPAT events with the customer in Huntsville. These meetings are one-day meetings that are attended by Customer Product Assurance. The lead will be the chair for the event and gather and execute on all action items taken at the CPAT events.
  • Weekly status presentations to IDS Chief Engineer, Mission Assurance (quarterly to customer)
  • Work across all phases of the System “V” to mitigate corrosion in the field.
  • Lead Program specific corrosion mitigation tasks
This position requires the ability to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of employment. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Quality, Applied Sciences and/or Engineering
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in STEM, Business or related field
  • Management of multiple projects operating in parallel
  • Capable of working with highly technical SMEs in the materials, finish systems, and sustainment/maintenance areas
  • Understanding of business case development, ROI, program finance and EACs, new business development and proposal work.
  • System or Reliability Engineering knowledge and work experience
  • Experience with preparing and presenting senior management level briefings and influencing senior leadership on issues
  • Ability to build and lead highly effective teams, and develop effective relationships across cultures with customers and suppliers
  • Expertise in Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action and application of Quality Sciences
  • Experience working within a matrix and Integrated/Cross Product Team environment
  • Finance/EVMS
  • Corrosion Mitigation experience
  • PATRIOT experience
