Applicants will be considered for the Manager III Manufacturing Engineering position based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibilities of the position. Desired candidates will be experienced engineers with a Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Systems related engineering background.

The Supplier Engineering organization is currently searching for a Section Manager with extensive experience in engineering, manufacturing and, design and development. This role will maintain relationships with internal and external customers at all levels to ensure accurate and timely flow of information in support of program execution. The Section Manager will need to develop partnerships across “EOSQP” (Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and the Programs), the Raytheon Enterprise and the Supply Base. The Section Manager will be responsible for supporting process development, budget resourcing, staffing assignments and performance development across the organization. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Raytheon Supplier Engineers are involved in all aspects of planning and executing the production of our wide range of weapon systems, from tactical missiles to strategic defense products. Supplier Engineers provide technical knowledge & process capability expertise to improve supplier performance. Supplier Engineers are involved in all phases of product life cycles, beginning with proposal development, new product development, advanced manufacturing initiatives and continuing through production implementation. Supplier Engineers ensure technical data packages are complete and accurate and that the supplier technical performance meets the objectives of quality, cost and schedule. Supplier Engineers drive Raytheon design requirements to improve manufacturing and quality capabilities of suppliers. Supplier Engineers initiate continuous and measureable design and process improvement of supplier hardware for affordability.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Define, communicate and verify configuration requirements
  2. Conduct supplier engagements related to capability, capacity, opportunity and risk
  3. Ensure product and process capability across the supplier’s value stream, including sub-tiers
  4. Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities within the supplier’s manufacturing and quality systems
  5. Perform technical evaluations in support of cost and price analysis
  6. Manage supplier requests for product and process changes
  7. Manage product non-conformances; Drive root cause and corrective action
  8. Provide manufacturing guidance to suppliers
  9. Proactively identify supplier risk and develop the mitigation plan
  10. Prioritize and execute improvement opportunities
  11. Collaborate with “EOSQP” (Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and the Programs) to drive supplier performance to goals
  12. Actively participate in program / engineering reviews and change boards
  13. Communicate the technical health of our suppliers to stakeholders
  14. Work as a member of the respective Supplier Engineering Department leadership team to ensure programs are properly staffed and de-staffed, as well as aid in hiring decisions for new employees
  15. Aid in career development of the department members. This includes identifying growth opportunities for colleagues in both technical and leadership positions
  16. Engagement with programs to ensure supplier engineering is involved throughout the product life cycle
  17. Attend peer reviews, program reviews and review boards. Ensure technical and cost/schedule rigor is followed
Required Experience, Skills & Education:
  • Bachelor of Science is required in one of the following Majors: Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Optical Engineering or related Engineering field; ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

  • 10+ years’ prior relevant progressive experience to include experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, system engineering, production/supplier management, and Program/Production Management is required
  • Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department; advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization
  • Ability to acquire a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Engineering interpretation of technical documentation
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team based setting
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment where work was planned, organized and prioritized
  • The ability to understand technical requirements of procured parts, including Statements of Work (SOW)
  • Experience with suppliers in the mechanical supply base
  • Strong working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office® suite or similar software programs
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Experience, Skills & Education:
  • Master’s Degree in the following Majors: Business Administration, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process/Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering
  • Experience supporting business and functional deliverables
  • Experience performing supplier assessments
  • Excellent phone etiquette, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity of Export/Import regulations
  • The ability to proactively anticipate and identify needs and expectations of department and integrate into work process
  • Familiarity with corporate goals and aspirations
  • Experience in requirements and interface development
  • Experience in Statement of Work (SOW) generation
  • 5+ years of experience interfacing and communicating with all levels within an organization as well as with a large external customer base
  • Experience with design and development of products that fall within the mechanical engineering discipline
  • Existing Active Secret clearance
